Water on the mirror makes it all seem distorted, out of focus. An insanity of sorts. Reminds me of fun house mirrors and bad cuisine. My thoughts lead to childhood. County fairs, where the laughter of children and the smell of cotton candy was relevant. Quarters given gleefully in hopes of being the proud new owner of the goldfish in the bowl on the right. I saw her today...like I had never seen her before. As we made our way to our prospective mailboxes, I noticed something...she is beautiful. How did I not notice before? Her thinning, gray hair the perfect halo. The creases in her face brought on by eighty years of emotion made me catch my breath. Her eyes are clear and bright, a deeper shade of green than I have ever seen. She felt my eyes on her I suppose. She raised her arthritic hand to extend a friendly greeting...and I wondered to myself if she knew how truly beautiful she was at this moment.

I owe an update, I suppose. I feel shitty for neglecting everyone here at DA for so long. Forgive me. Some of you follow my online journal, most don't...so you probably have no idea what I've been up to. I've been pretty sick since before Christmas, it's escalated this month and I've been back and forth to the hospital more than I've been home. That's my excuse. Although, I'm sure I could have dug out a bit of time to look and comment on your art, I didn't. I probably won't be doing much until after my surgery on Jan. 31st. I have pages of stuff I've written in hospital waiting rooms, and I may submit a few...we shall see. I did delete all...

I have way over 100 deviations to view, and at least that many journals. I really mean to get to it, problem being... I feel like shooting myself in the fucking head right now.
