(Introduction)
Have you ever noticed that we as human beings tend to face judgment for the things that we try to do for others? We go out of our way to assist those that may want or need our help on a daily basis. Some of us may be grateful for it but the rest of us are kind of like,
"Didn't need you! GET LOST!!!" and pushing them aside because we feel so independent or broken inside that we tend to fend for ourselves. Growing up, I was led to believe that if we do our best and perform good deeds, we will have a place up in Heaven after our lives on Earth are over. That would make us feel like we're becoming angels here on Earth and that when we get up there, we can look at God and say,
"May the things I did be a blessing upon the Earth for years to come!" and then you go partying with a bunch of old dudes that you were inspired by over the years!
Even now, I look at the world around me and it seems like... it's harder for us to perform good deeds in the name of honor and bravery and the things we do are never appreciated like it used to be. Now it's like,
"Screw you! I get what I want!" because it seems like being good isn't good enough anymore and we tend to break away from what is truly right in this world. I know everybody has an opinion on what they think is right and wrong but some of those things tend to get in the way of what we truly feel is the right thing to do. None of us can become as pure as the angels themselves up in heaven but we can try and I want to take this time to talk about why we need angels and how we can become like them despite our struggles to stay pure and trustworthy as heroes that can make a difference. For this journal entry, I want to discuss a topic that has been on my mind lately starting with this...
(Part 1 - Heroism)
Growing up as kids, we all have our love for heroes fighting villains from novels, comics, films, to video games. We never thought about what this concept would be like in the real world and those who are adults seem to know what it's truly like to be in a position to become either the hero or the villain in real life. We all want to be the hero because they look cool, have the best gadgets & powers, and they never lose to the ones who are the bad guys. It's like a game where you choose sides and play in a battle that seems bent on having one of us win but we know that good will triumph over evil no matter what.
Growing up, becoming a hero is where we tend to save people from certain doom only to accomplish it but end up getting ridiculed by the ones we save who complain over what they lost and are disappointed by the results. They now have to figure out what to do with their lives and you're the blame for letting it happen even though you never did anything to inflict such pain upon them.
It's like having to perform good deeds is like a test where we are faced with the challenge to help others but also be able to perform the tasks perfectly by saving the people but also protect the things they cherish which seem more valuable than their own lives. Now, that might be an expression on how selfish we can be because we seem to care more about the things we love and how we can get by in this world without falling into a life of poverty and become homeless.
Having to be rescued by somebody in a cape, costume, armor, uniform, or anything like that who go out of their way just to help you is considered a selfless act on its own.
Granted, there are some of us who are considered to being the good guy but we also have been caught doing something bad that may have others look at us like we're the bad guys instead of doing something good in their eyes. Some of us might become a hero simply out of glory which is to fuel our egos with self-pride that doing something good can guarantee that people love us for being a hero.
There are many different aspects to this that I could go on about but some of you may know how some people or creatures tend to do heroic acts in their own way or why they do it. Heroes are, after all, doing their best to serve and they make mistakes from time to time but it shouldn't come between us and doing what we think is truly the right thing to do. It's not an easy thing to do but we should do what is right regardless of how others might see us as protectors of the human race.
(Part 2 - Service)
In the real world, adults are usually doing jobs to help those get through the day. They may work in a store, assist those in a restaurant, help with some important documents, getting something fixed, tend to our wounds & sicknesses, or are out in the frontlines where they must overcome a possible danger that may threaten us in a big way like fire, crime, and dangers to society.
Every day, we give our lives to serve those in need or whoever may need to get some money out of the bank or to grab a sandwich as we head off to work for the day.
Those who serve us are seen as heroes while others may seem as individuals that only help a certain group but not care about the others. They can accuse them of doing bad things that only fills them with hatred towards them just out of spite.
Even when they do help those people, they tend to get upset because it's not like they needed help in the first place.
We tend to feel like we're so independent than having to rely on someone else for help makes us seem weak and vulnerable even though that's not the truth.
Those who serve are those who are there to help others when they don't have the ability to help themselves. Many of us don't want to be the damsel in distress which can seem like a very bad position to be in like in a classic fairytale where the princess is stuck in a tower or in a western where a girl is captured by a dastardly villain and ties her up to the tracks to have a train run her and calling for her hero to rescue her.
Many of us have seen those become victims of circumstances from over the years and we have this notion that we shouldn't wait for others to help us get out of a bad situation and find our own way to never become victims again.
This leads us to act like we don't need heroes to help us but rather become our own which can make us seem resentful to those who were only trying heir best to help us get out of a jam. While it's true that we should help ourselves most of the time, it doesn't hurt to have someone else come along and help us out with something in case we don't have the answers to the problem or may not have the strength to face something on our own. Being in service to others is how we can go out of our way to become selfless and not perform our good deeds out of selfishness because to do so could cause problems and even worse... lead to something more horrible than how it was before!
Being in service to others should never be taken for granted and we should strive to be kind and considerate to those we serve.
(Part 3 - Monstrosity)
Another reason why we need angels in this world is that there are those that lurk within the shadows and may want to cause us some harm for any reason whatsoever. The Earth may seem like a peaceful or fun place to be in but we must never forget that there are demons that may be hiding inside the one place we may not always expect them to be in... in all of us!
That's right! We as human beings can become like the monsters that we experience in fiction. Rather if it's from looking hideous, scaring people, or going on a rampage that makes us seem like the scum of the earth that must be wiped out at all cost.
Now, before I go into this any further, I have a question for you. Do you tend to see those as being horrible and how you feel like the only good person in this world who cares but only for him or herself?
That happens to so many of us because we tend to ignore the faults in our lives and how our behavior could influence others into believing that there are those who are monsters and should never be allowed to be good no matter how they try to act innocent or plea for mercy.
So often do I feel like there are a lot of people that look at a person or a thing and think that they are like monsters who want to cause trouble and never giving a rat's rear about us. We label them as outcasts that must be removed from this earth without a single hint of remorse that they may not be as bad as we made them out to be. There are those who go out of their way to help the monsters by finding the part of them that is still inside them like innocence and decency.
These things are what we should find in others that may not be as bad or are long gone because those who have fallen too deep tend to not find their innocence and let guilt fill their hearts with darkness that has been painted black as night.
We can help those find their way back into the light when they feel like all is lost and nothing else can make them come back from a pit of despair. For far too long have we let ourselves become victims to darkness which may seem like a nice and comforting place but is really a place of solitude that we may never come out of because the world seems like a scary place to be in.
That's why we need angels because only we can help others climb out of the pit and overcome the part of us that has made us into monsters in the first place.
Some battles we may have to face on our own which is not a bad thing but it's something we must face in order to overcome our fears.
(Conclusion)
We do need angels in this world.
We may not always appreciate them but we shouldn't let our hatred get in the way of what matters to us because even a little bit of kindness can go a long way.
Having to be there for others is the greatest feeling there is and opening our hearts to them may take some time but with a little effort, we can open ourselves to the possibility of helping others not for glory or for fame but do what is truly right because it's our duty to look after each other and when one needs help, we lift their spirits up to let them know that they are not alone.
Although there are some things that we can do by ourselves, we mustn't forget that there are a lot of us that may need our help and we should be open to having others be there for when we may need them.
I know that a lot of us could use a little reminder on why we need heroes who are not trying to do the things for their own good but rather for the benefit of leaving something behind for others to follow and to carry on knowing that we should show love and not hate in this world. If we can do that, we'll be closer to achieving world peace and end all fighting for good.
