Description
2-player games were a thing even with early handhelds such as the Game Boy. I mean, you could make a fun little versus battle playing Dr. Mario or Yoshi's Cookie on your GB with a cable link connected.
If this was also applied to platformers like Super Mario Land, then...? This would be the result.
Mario and Luigi can co-operate together to save Daisy from the game's villain, Tatanga. They both have separate scores, but lives and coins are shared between the brothers so when one loses a life, they both die (circa). If one of them is still alive, he can still attempt to make it to the end of the level and to the Bonus Game to farm up more lives so that the other bro gets revived.
Like any other 2-player game for the system, this mode requires two Game Boy consoles, two Super Mario Land cartridges and a cable to connect both handhelds to each other in order to play.
You can find the sequel here.
