Since we last updated, we went to Afest and Moonwildflower competed in her Lynx (Chrono Cross) and got best in Masters! The next weekend, the group got invited as cosplay guests at Mechacon in New Orleans! We all had a blast and hope to go back next year.Sorry about the lack of updates. We update our FB page almost everyday... at least. Go check it out! www.facebook.com/shinkastudios

We've got a couple small projects we're finishing up now, but we have room for maybe one or two more. Commissions we accept: helmets, weapons, and latex masks (no, the silence mask is not for sale) If you're interested, send us a note and we can discuss the details!

Hello! I noticed that you (or some friends) made some excellent Silence costumes. I'm planning on being a Silent for Halloween and next year's Comicon, but for the life of me, I can't find the gloves for sale (or tutorials on how to make them) anywhere! Would you be so kind as to help me or put me in contact with someone who can? Thank you!

Hey! I saw you in Cosplay-in-America Book and on his You Tube Video as the Halo Character. WOW, I'm really late on this!!
ShinkaStudiosCosplay's avatar
No problem! His book is still getting out there, so people are discovering us more and more as time passes.

Yeah, I bought mine at Otakon 2010. That was my first time Cosplaying as Half Naruto and Half Sasuke, and my first time going to anime conventions. Hopefully I can find/get a job and go to more of them.

Hi there~ Saw the video haha. Was wondering if you could tell me what you put into the latex mold of the helmet to make the white cast? I thought I heard plastidip but I wanted to make sure. And which came first; the pink latex mold or the outer casing (not sure what it's called or what it's made of, the yellowish/greyish/greenish part that is screwed together)?

The finished white cast is actually Smoothcast 320, not plastidip. It can be bought from Smoothon.com.
As for the helmet mold, the rubber was first applied to the original that we were making a mold of. When the layer of rubber was thick enough, we built up the outter layer out of Fiberglass and resin to support the inner rubber mold.
Hope that helps!

awesome, thanks :) I thought I heard them say plastidip, but it's actually much easier to use smoothcast because I have tons of it haha. Thanks again!
