When did you go to sleep?
I didn't notice your words drifting into whispers too low for me to hear
or your blue irises disappearing beneath your lids.
I didn't notice your slowing breathing
or your eyes twitching from object to object in a world invisible to me.
All I could hear was our pulses beating out a rhythm against each other.
All I could see was your fingers and mine, intertwined so I couldn't tell the difference.
