Something you might want to consider doing, a map in Gllead based on the book sequel to A Handmaid's Tale, Testaments. Texas broke off from the USA when the takeover commenced and fought Gilead to a stand still and uneasy peace has ensued. The border is slightly changed. And the book mentions Gilead is at war with California.
