Description
Primary NPC
Associated character: Phan Thị Chau. Mira and Chau have been friends for a good number of years now. Chau is one of the few people Mira opened up to and Chau helped her with some lingering doubt about her past. In return, Mira funds Chau’s kitchen and forum.
Name: Dragomira
Nickname: Mira, Dragon (no one calls her Dragon but she wishes they would. EXCEPT Miguel.)
Born: Around 850 AD (entered the forest in 866, entered the city in 1795, time travelled 931 years)
Age: 101 (as of 1896)
Physical Age: 17
Height: 4'9" / 152 cm
Weight: 138 pounds / 63 kg
Faction/occupation: Insurgent/carpenter
To Mira, the forest used to be a place where you can feel safe, where the Gods and Spirits live. Basileus killed that forest, somehow, and now it is dead and devoid of life. She resents him for that, making her sway to the insurgent side of things
Mira owns a carpentry company that specializes in small furniture for smaller citizens (and occasionally tall furniture for tall citizens). The store itself is rather special. Everything inside is made for small people, so tall people will feel like giants when they enter. The shop and her work have become somewhat of a highlight in the city and her furniture is in high demand. After the riots, she also started doing repair work around her district.
She loves her company and the status it has given her, making her a very mild insurgent.
Sybal Form: širdis miške, Heart of the Forest
At night the small Mira changes into a 7'5"/2,32 m forest guardian. Her hair turns into moss with little plants and flowers here and there. Should she curl up, her hair can cover her entirerly and she will look like a mossy bump. Her face is more angular and mature than during the day and her skin is made out of wood with some carvings, much like the carvings she makes during the day. Both her hooves and claws and sharp enough to cut wood, enabling her to climb the trees of the Aionius woods with ease.
Sybal Power: The Terraglobe
Mira's power is neither useful for offence nor defence and is rooted in her longing to go back to the forest she loved. When she enters the Travellers Forest at night, the forest becomes alive around her in a radius of 10-8 meters and she spreads a soft glow like the afternoon sun. (Should she wish to hide herself, she can stop glowing but that is not natural and will drain her in the end. If she falls unconscious the glow will stop, however.)
All sorts of lifeforms that she was familiar with in her life before Sybal Heim, (such as birds, ants, worms, spiders, bunnies) appear around her. The closer you get to the core of the illusion, which is Mira herself, the more realistic it becomes. Mira does not control the animals and cannot tell them what to do. They behave naturally as they would during the day. Prey will still hunt game.
When Mira focuses, she can summon certain animals into the illusion. She can also touch all the animals that appear around her. Other sybals cannot touch them unless Mira focusses actively on the animal.
Once the animals fly/hop/crawl out of the radius, they disappear into thin air. Her power is limited to the forest and does not work within the city.Personality:
+ Bold, direct, sociable
- Impatient, defiant, unpredictable
History:
Mira was born around 850 in what is now known as Lithuania. She lived in the village of Apuolé on the shores of the Baltic Sea and belonged to the Curonian tribe, a group of fierce warriors and pirates who often quarrelled with the surrounding tribes. Life was good. Mira was the daughter of a successful pirate who was often away from home, so she and her two brothers were free to cause chaos of their own.
When the Curonians rebelled and refused to pay tribute to Sweden, a dangerous ball started rolling. First, the Danes attacked, hoping to force the town to pay tribute to Denmark instead. They did not expect to be met with such ferocity, however, and the Curonians butchered them before plundering their ships. It was a advantageous time for Apuolé and Mira revelled in it.
King Olof of Sweden could not let this stand and decided to do what Denmark couldn’t. He organized a large expedition into Curionian lands. He attacked and burned the northern towns before marching on Apuolé. Thousands of citizens fought tooth and nail to defend their town, but after eight exhausting days they were forced to surrender. They pledged loyalty to Sweden and gave thirty hostages to guarantee future payments. Mira had never been very lucky.
Life as a hostage in Sweden was hard. They were mistreated and shunned by the rest of the community. However, for Mira there was one small light in the darkness: one of her fellow hostages named Erika. She was a delicate redheaded flower and looked completely out of place. Still, she worked hard and kept her head up.
When the other hostages formed a plan to escape, Mira was intent on joining them. Erika was reluctant, however, and thought their plan was doomed to fail. When the night of escape arrived, Erika’s indecisiveness caused both of them to linger behind while the small group of rebel hostages made their silent escape. Mira forcefully dragged Erika along, refusing to let her stay. Then the alarm bells started ringing, and they had to run.
Mira sighed with relief when she spotted a dense looking forest and ran to safety. She was convinced Erika was behind her but when she turned around, the forest was silent. Too silent. She called her name, tried to run back, searched for the other hostages but instead ran straight into Theo.Additional info:
