my original head canon for her way back when was for grimdark inserts so she was slightly affiliated with an infamous story we all know, helping mena poison her tasty pastries. gaining her cutiemark.

when she young she held much interest in morbid folktales, and corpses of rotting rodents. often knocking barn swallows nests down just to crush the small blue eggs nestled within, or poking at remains examining wing anatomy . her parents quickly noticed this behavior as unacceptable and for the sake of their newborn foals, cast her out into the streets of manehatten to raise herself. 

dimly lit alleyways sheltered by scaffolding from constant rain housed this small curiosity. moulding her into a husk of a mare, ragged and penniless. she found home far from the city and her old family. a pink mare with a playful disposition, coaxing words and a eager smile leading them to … well making some cupcakes  

before meeting miss mena she dabbled in sewer rat poison potions and alchemy of perpetual chaos. creating diluted poisons that, when added to culinary delicacies, created drowsiness if dosed right. 

her acts amongst mena and her troop led to her banishment and found herself in the frozen north, stumbling upon a faintly glowing ruby pillar.
as she approached the glow grew into a hum as the pillar shook, a small fragment falling from the wake.
she levitated the crooked crystal with her magic, examining it closely as the warmth from its cracked exterior filled her once bone chilled body.

it consumed her.
