Three weeks ago I took a trip to Kirkland and Seattle, WA. My trip had a two-fold agenda: first, scout galleries and meet people involved with the art scene in the Puget sound area, and second, spend some time with my good friends Stephanie, Michael, Matt, and Meredith. ...of this statement concerning my most recent works.Why portraiture and why like this?Portraits have essentially the longest history in art yet they are often overlooked in contemporary art circles as a valid form of fine art, meaning art with purpose beyond representation. The beginning has begun! I have finished five new pieces and am hanging them at Preston Winery's 2nd Street salon in Walla Walla, WA tomorrow morning. I learned a lot over the course of their birth. In a couple of days I will start working on the second phase of my tour de mystique. My hanging date for the next batch just got moved forward about two weeks so I must start sweating and bleeding once more.
