Lone Larch

So many elements in this photo but the obvious is the striking colour of the main subject: the tree. It stands in stark contrast to the monotone backdrop of grey stones and cool blue water reflecting the rock around it which gives this photo much visual impact. I like the relatively simple composition. What I do not know is the view above this tree but I wonder if a shot tilted slightly up with a wider aperture focused on near to the tree itself would reduce the amount of foreground rocks a bit and help the tree be a smaller more isolated subject. I thought on the water and a longer exposure to smooth its surface but I think the dapple of the waves presents a nice contrast to the sharp edges of stone seen throughout. My only changes would be to have it so the tree were lower in the frame and perhaps add a slight vignette.
