The future brought innovation and improvements to mankind at large. It also brought the corruption. H+ implantation had been widespread when the storms came, changing and mutating the nanomachines coursing through humanity's blood. Entire regions had to be closed off to the contagion as their residents were taken and rebuilt by the plague into H+. Nations had to be abandoned as the H+ contagion spread. In an odd sense, it was working exactly as it should have. H+ made them smarter, faster, stronger, with a single purpose unifying them. Was this a glimpse into the new world?

But during the evacuations into safe zones, many people left things behind. But they need people with a very specific set of talents to help them get what they want. Fresh off a war in the Caspian for much-needed oil and mineral rights for what's left of the world, Slim is given a unique opportunity. Some very important people want something very important found. In return he could get what few in his world could afford: A way out.
