Description
Name: Emiko Shirozuki (Smiling Child, White Moon)
Gender: Female
Age: Appears roughly 21 (D.O.B : January 1st)
Bloodtype: O-
Rank: Fifth Division Captain
Race: Shinigami (Human spirit)
Theme Song: Pretty Girl (Sugarcult)
Appearance:
As her namesake would suggest, Emiko is well known for her benevolent nature and somewhat cutesy manner of dress. She stands roughly 5'4" in height and weighs in around 110lb, sporting a slender, reasonably endowed figure free of excess fat and muscle. More often than not, she can be found with her mid-length blonde locks tied off into plaits, each tail accentuated with colorful bands that appear to change daily. Bright, sparkling violet eyes rest beneath a fringe parting to the left, each having been rimmed with heavy black eyeliner and brushed with a light dusting of silver glitter. Despite Emiko's playful taste in make-up, her lips are coloured a rather demure shade of cold pink, and glossed accordingly. Her skin is a relatively soft, milky shade of peach, and appears to be more or less blemish free. She also tends to keep her nails long and well manicured, usually with a thick coat of sparkling polish, (which will always match the colour of her hair ties,) topping them off. It should be noted that she has a pair of small butterfly wings tattooed on each shoulder blade, each of which coated generously with silver body glitter.
Real World:
In regards to attire, Emi tends to dress somewhere between provocative and refined, the majority of her wardrobe drawing influence from mainstream trends. She can usually be found wearing a white off-the-shoulder sweater, the length of which falling somewhere just above her hips, with a plain leather belt fitted loosely around the base of her waist. A simple denim miniskirt, which is really only a few inches longer than the sweater itself, rests at her waist, its sultry length diminished by her use of black tights. On most occasions, Emiko wears a pair of knee high leather crinkle boots dyed in her colour of choice. As for jewelry, Emi often wears specific sets which, like every other accentuating colour, change daily. Depending on the weather and her mood, she will also wear an unzipped jacket, scarf and toque combo that conveniently matches the colour of her nails, shoes and hair bands.
Shinigami:
Emiko wears a heavily differentiated version of the usual Shinigami uniform, completely forgoing the standard hakama in place of a slightly longer kimono. Emi ties her lilac coloured, starburst patterned obi sash around her waist and beneath the breasts, wrapping a second black, white-rimmed slip of material around the upper portion of the obi to alter its appearance. A string of silver rope hangs diagonally from the left side of her waist and across the obi, tapering off in a thin bow around her right hip, several beads positioned across the length of accessory. Her zanpaktou can usually be found tucked into the right side of this obi. In lieu of the standard captain's jacket, Emiko wears a long, sash like garment that sits in billows off either shoulder, tucking into her obi around the breasts at the front. Around the back, it is cinched together with a lilac plate boasting the fifth division insignia, either end of the material flowing buch like the trails of bow. As a result of personal preferences, Emi wears knee length black boots instead of the standard tabi-zori combination.
Personality:
Playful, generous and perhaps a little shy, Emiko represents an odd balance of dynamism, poise and benevolence. Emi can of course appear absent minded at times, but is an incredibly intelligent person who, despite a tendency to miss certain expressions of wit and humour, could cast a level 90 Hadou spell without an incantation. She usually treats others with an unwavering level of respect and kindness, and often tries to act in the best interest of her comrades. Emi is just the kind of girl who would give anything to protect a loved one, and seems to thoroughly comprehend the difference between what is right and what is wrong.
Despite her gregarious and open-minded nature, she can occasionally appear aloof during battle, and has been known to call upon a much darker façade to see her through rough patches. Unfortunately, outside of conflict, Emi tends to be trusting to the point of naivety, and usually gives enemies multiple chances to back down before acting too rashly. She is an outwardly friendly, and admittedly gullible, person who makes friends very easily- even if her tendency to misjudge characters leads her to the wrong friends. For some reason, she is thoroughly committed to the ideal that even the most stubborn, most hard-hearted fools have the capacity for change.
Emi's main pastimes include singing, songwriting, cooking and shopping.
Bio:
Emiko Shirozuki was born the princess, and soul heir, of the Tokohakumei (House of Endless Twilight), which is the house responsible for maintaining the spiritual integrity of Seiretei. As such a prominent member of the Shirozuki family, one of the four main noble families of Seiretei, Emi received exceptional treatment throughout her young life, and was well known for her refined manner of dress and lavish parties. From the time she was a young girl, Shirozuki’s up-and-coming 26th head was spoiled to the point where more children would turn rotten, and then spoiled some more. It was a miracle in itself that the girl grew into a fine, moralistic young woman.
After being ushered in the Shinou academy by an eager guardian, who had decided that the only way to fulfill her obligations to the family was through the spirit courts, Emiko found that she not only excelled in her lessons, (managing low tier kidou spells shortly after their original introductions,) but that she had a certain affinity for making friends. One of these friends was Kamisori Uyoku, who in spite of some unspoken rivalry between the pair, would become like a sister to Emiko. It was during this friendship, and their second year of Academy training, that they would come together to partake in one very special endeavor.
Being some of the first students to enter Captain Commander Meiyogensai’s Shinou Academy, the two highly proficient inductees were offered the chance of a lifetime. After showing their seemingly innate skill under the tutelage of academy instructors, the pair was offered the chance to train with Meiyogensai himself in lieu of regular schooling. After years of rigorous preparations, both girls would be ‘graduated’ from their studies, and be presented seats within the divisions the Captain Commander handpicked based on their skills. The year would end with Emiko being handed the fourth seat of fourth division.
It was in Fourth Division that Emiko learned to master healing kidou in addition to regular spells, and where she would come to learn about the inner workings of soul society. While she herself was never actually charged with the task of cleaning the tunnels, she did spend quite a lot of time studying and mapping their structure. By the time she had been offered a lieutenancy position within fifth division, Emiko had effectively drawn out detailed blueprints of the entire underground tunneling system of Seiretei. Of course, this was something she had kept mostly to herself.
After being placed in Fifth Division, Emiko was quick to ascertain Bankai, attributing her sudden development to the importance of her position. By the time the Fifth Division was ready for a new captain, (an occurrence that stemmed from the previous captains transition to Zero Division,) Emiko took on the roll as acting captain. Before too long, she was granted permanent reign over Fifth Division, and to this day runs it rather smoothly.
It wasn’t long before the Division’s empty lieutenant’s seat became painfully apparent, leaving Emi with no other choice but to find a worthy successor. In the end, she would choose the most suitable member, (who just so happened to be the painfully alluring ‘bad boy’ type,) one Zatoichi Tetsumeiun. Rather than admit that the choice had been slightly attributed to somewhat of a schoolgirl crush, Emiko instead turned the situation into an amazing opportunity. From the time Zatoichi was admitted into the position, Emi herself would personally train him, focusing mostly on his abilities with kidou and his zanpaktou. Her goal had been to see him achieve Bankai, but she unfortunately never got the chance.
Succeeding several years of service, Zatoichi met a most unfortunate fate after the Central 46 condemned him, as well as one of Seiretei’s Gate Guardians, to Sougyoku hill for a murder they did not commit. Following the death of the Captain in question, the pair of framed constituents were forced into trial, and ultimately convicted of treason. After about a month of imprisonment, the pair was prepared for their execution. At the last minute, desperation, and a few lucky occurrences (courtesy of twelfth division technology,) hit, allowing both individuals to fight their way to the Senkei gate for their freedom. While no one was actually named for assisting the criminals in their escape, Emiko may have had a hand in the proceedings.
Since her former lieutenant’s departure, Emiko has not actually bothered to fill his vacant spot, having been unable to find someone worthy of Zatoichi’s shoes. Instead, the division currently boasts two third seat officers moonlighting as lieutenants.

--Battle Information--
Strengths: Kidou, speed and dexterity (also ambidextrous).
Weaknesses: Physically weak, poor defensive stamina and emotional constraints.
Expert Swordsmanship Specialist:
By her own admission, she has less talent in swordsmanship than Kidou, though she is still capable of holding her own in battle, and demonstrates a flawless mastery of ambidexterity.
Healer:
When she was first introduced to the Gotei 13, Emi spent several years, (before discovering shikai,) in 4th Division, and therefore knows healing-type Kidou and technique.
Flash Steps Master:
As a mid to long range specialist, she is tactically required to be highly proficient in Shunpo, (due to her smallish frame and poor defensive capabilities,) and exercises a seemingly innate level of dexterity. As such, she actively uses her mastery of Shunpo techniques and is highly proficient in evasion at all ranges.
*Senka (Flash Blossom): a special Shunpo technique where one moves to their opponent's back, directly attacking and sealing one's "Saketsu" and "Hakusui" in one strike (effectively cutting them off of their spiritual energy flow). The movement is so fast that an opponent may not be able to tell whether he was attacked from the front or the back and even an outside observer may find it impossible to tell what the movements are.
Kidou Master:
As the former Captain of the Kidou corps, Emiko is a powerful Kidou master. She has shown her mastery particularly in Hadou and Bakudou spells up to #99, fully controlling them without so much as an incantation. It should be noted, however, that without the use of an incantation, such spells tend to tire her out rather quickly. She has also made up many of her own spells.
Immense Spiritual Power: To compensate for her poor physical strength, Emiko is amazingly well endowed with regards to spiritual power.
Immense Speed: Through a combination of Emiko's smaller frame and a rigorous training regime, she is incredibly fast and agile, rivaling the abilities of the Onmitsukido.
Extremely Acrobatic In addition to her innate speed and dexterity, Emiko has trained her body to move with exceptional grace and flexibility, making her a master of acrobatic techniques.
High-Level Intellect: Although not the most street smart shinigami, (as she has been known to be a surprisingly bad judge of character,) Emiko is surprisingly intelligent when it comes to everything else.
--
Poor Physical Strength:Despite having innumerable, hard-hitting abilities, physically, Emiko's actuall physical strength is rated near the bottom of the Gotei.
Poor Physical Endurance: Despite having many abilities related to self defense, physically, Emiko's stamina and endurance are rated near the bottom of the Gotei.

Zanpaktou: Tsukihana (Moon Flower) (Bankai: Gesshoku Tsukihana [Eclipse of the Moon Flower])
Release Phrase:
Whirling Petals, redirect your flow. Float, fall, and christen this earth with your light-Tsukihana!
Sealed Form:
In its sealed form, Emi's zanpaktou takes on the appearance of an average katana. The hilt and tsuba are silver in colour, with sparkly white material wrapped around the length of the grip. Attached to the pommel is train of opal beads hooked to a silver cord. The guard itself is shaped like a pair of facing, intersecting moons, and has a series of small, heart-shaped designs carved into the metal at each 'point'. Its sheath is a glossy white, and has an intricate floral design painted up the sides.
Shikai:
In its Shikai form, Emi's zanpaktou changes drastically. After the release command is uttered, the entirety of the blade begins to 'wash' away, appearing almost as though her reiatsu is erasing its materialization. Once complete, an exceptionally long ribbon will appear in absence of her katana, fluttering around her form in a slow, cyclonic movement. The form of a large glowing scythe will appear in front of her body, though at this point, it is composed solely of glowing violet Reishi, and she will take the ends of the ribbon into either hand. She will wrap the intangible weapon in a few layers of ribbon before releasing her hands, allowing the material to ensnare itself around the body of the scythe until it reaches the glaive itself. At this point, the ribbon will tie itself into a bow, and its excess length, (which cuts in around 5 feet,) will be left to dangle from either side of the blade. Once complete, the weapon itself will lose its solid glow, and become a tangible weapon-its body comprised of silver with whitish blue kind of glow. The blade will extend to both sides of the stave, one side appearing much longer than the other-the general shape appearing similar to a triangulated moon with an outward 'flick on the left side. Roughly two feet from the top of the pole, the first section of ribboning will inadvertently cut off, and several opal beads will hang from a trio of silver chains hooked beneath the ribbons. Continuing down, a second set of ribboning, spanning perhaps six inches in length, will consume the pole, and a thicker ribbon will be positioned at its base with the kanji 'tsuki' and 'hana' emblazoned on the material. The base of the scythe boasts a small opal gem, and forms somewhat of a triangular point, (much like the tip of a halberd,) at the bottom.
Tsukihana's main function is to provide a catalyst for kidou spells, (which are ten times stronger with her shikai released,) to serve as defensive weapon, and to provide an anchor for her spiritual energies. It should be noted that she tends to use her zanpaktou to perform acrobatic feats during combat as well.
Gekkou (Moonbeam)
The Gekkou is released as a varying blast of violet reiatsu, which Emi is capable of controlling in regards to size, intensity and range. Generally fired with a rapid diagonal swing, this attack tends to take on the appearance of a crescent-shaped arc, though it can occasionally appear more like a wave if enough reiatsu is used.
Furiko Enko (Pendulum Arc)
The Furiko Enko is released by flipping her zanpaktou towards the ground, swinging it much like one would swing an actual pendulum (hence, the name.) When the swing has reached its maximum horizontal range, the energy it has collected throughout its swing is shifted into the ground, creating a wave of rolling reiatsu. This violet energy has an unlimited vertical range, and can be completely controlled by Emi with regards to its path, movement speed and intensity. Because it can be expanded upwards instantaneously, the only way to avoid it is to outrun it, or avoid its direct path.
Bankai:
In its Bankai form, Emi's zanpaktou retains many similarities to its shikai release . After the release command is uttered, the structure of the right scythe blade will flip, forming an upward curvature as opposed to its former glaive-like appearance. The cutting edge of the blade will then be engulfed in an intense light, the Reishi surrounding each curvature reminiscent of a constantly fluxing kidou spell wherein the colours change to reflect the type of magic endowed on the blade. The rest of the weapon will remain entirely tangible-its body comprised of silver with whitish blue kind of glow. It should be noted that, in this release, the upper blade can be detached from the pole itself, and is hooked inside the stave with a flexible kidou chain.
Emi herself also goes through a few changes in this release, including the addition of glove-like ribboning that extends from her hands to the middle of her arms. While they appear like aesthetic devices, the ribbons themselves are composed of kidou, and serve to protect her should she physically touch the scythe blade or its kidou extension. Her clothing is also replaced with a short-styled kimono, (complete with a well-styled obi,) which, like the edge of her blade, alters in regards to colour and pattern based on the type of kidou being fed into her zanpaktou. Like most of her outfits, Emi's Bankai is topped off with a pair of black boots.
Gesshoku Tsukihana's main function is to provide a catalyst and extender for kidou spells, (which are fifty times stronger than her shikai's released form,) to serve as defensive weapon, and to provide an anchor for her spiritual energies.
Tsuka (Moon Blossom)
The Tsuka is released by disconnecting the stave from its blade, effectively taking hold of the kidou chains that separate the pairing. By swinging said chain, the blade can be launched at an opponent from a distance, or used as a tangible weapon. This attack differs from the Ametsuka because it channels only a portion of the intended spell into the edges of the blade, limiting its effects to the point of contact and diminishing its overall power.
Ametsuka (Rain of Moon Blossoms)
The Ametsuka is released by disconnecting the stave from its blade, effectively taking hold of the kidou chains that separate the pairing. By swinging said chain, the blade can be launched at an opponent from a distance, and will begin to spin rapidly throughout its course. Should the attack land on its target, whatever kidou spell Emi is channeling through the blade will be released upon them, point blank. This attack differs from the regular Tsuka because entire kidou spells are channeled through the chains, and can be released from any reasonable distance without diminishing their power. This attack is also exceptionally tiresome if powerful kidou is used, and even more draining if longer distances are employed. It is for this reason that the Ametsuka can only be sustained for about a minute before it will return to the regular Tsuka attack.
Tsukahansha (Moon Blossom Reflection)
With the Tsuka or Ametsuka in place, the resulting stave can be transformed into a shield. By pumping kidou into the length of the pole, the protection offered by its physical body can be further augmented through the use of Reishi infusion. It Emi is incapable of blocking with the body of the stave, the reiatsu surrounding it can expand to a certain degree as well, effectively, and unexpectedly, parrying attacks.
Bakudo (Way of Binding)</u>
1. Restrain (Sai) — Locks a target's arms in place behind their back.
4. Crawling Rope (Hainawa) — An energy rope entangles a target's arms.
8. Repulse (Seki) – Creates a round shield that seems to temporarily paralyze and repel whatever strikes it.
9. Strike (Geki) — Engulfs a target in red light, completely paralyzing them.
12. Ambush Flare (Fushibi) – Creates a Kidou net that can be used in conjunction with other spells.
26. Curving Light (Kyakko) - Hides the target from sight, presumably by bending light.
30. Beak-Stab Triple Beam (Shitotsu Sansen) - Shoots three beams of light that pin the target to one place on a surface, slamming into his/her body in three places in a shape of a perfect triangle.
37. Suspending Star (Tsuriboshi) - Creates a star-shaped cushion of Spiritual Energy, which anchors it to nearby objects with "ropes" of spirit particles. It can stop falling objects, acting like a safety net.
39. Arc Shield (Enkosen) — Summons a shield of condensed Reiatsu to block opponents' attacks.
58. Summoning of the Tracking Sparrows (Kakushitsuijaku) — Tracks and locates any spiritual force the user focuses on. To activate it, the user must draw a circle on the ground, cut into four parts with a specific character in each. The incantation animates the circle, causing various numbers to appear within until the specific set is found. The number set seems to be a variation on longitude and latitude.
61. Six Rods Prison of Light (Rikujōkōrō) — Summons six thin, but wide, beams of light that slam into a target's midsection, holding them in place.
62. Hundred Steps Fence (Hyapporankan) — A rod formed of energy is thrown towards the target before it disintegrates into numerous short rods which are used to pin the target to the surroundings and render them immobile.
63. Locking Bondage Stripes (Sajo sabaku) — Binds the arms of a target. According to Hachigen Ushōda, physical strength alone should not be enough to break out of a level 60 Bakudō, however Kensei Muguruma was able to free himself from this Kidō while in his Hollow form.
73. Inverted Crystal Mountain (Tozansho) - Creates a pyramid-shaped barrier around the caster.
75. Quintet of 1 kan Iron Pillars (Gochūtekkan) — Summons five incredibly tall and thick pillars to pin a target to the ground.
77. Heavenly Rickshaws in Silken Air (Tenteikūra) — Transmits messages to anyone within Soul Society. In addition to reciting the spell, the user must draw specific markings on their arms, which are animated by the spell to convey the messages.
81. Splitting Void (Danku) — Creates an energy barrier in the form of a rectangular wall. According to Byakuya, it is capable of stopping destructive spells up to #89. This is seen also when Aizen uses it to block Tessai's hado #88.
86. Twilight Symphony (Hakumei Koukyoukyoku) – This technique forms a thin beam of deep purple energy fired in a fashion similar to a laser. When it comes in contact with something material, it will simply create an explosion. If it comes in contact with a soul, however; the reiatsu will take their form, creating a doppleganger that can be used against them.
99. Part 1. Seal (Kin) — Binds the arms of a target with spiritual fabric and iron shafts.
99. Part 2. Great seal (Bankin)— This spell covers a target from head to toe with spiritual fabric (first song), stabs them with numerous metal blades (second song), and then smashes them with an immense metal cube (final song).
Hadou (Way of Destruction)</u>
1. Thrust (Shō) — Pushes the target away from the caster.
4. White Lightning (Byakurai) - The user fires a concentrated, powerful lightning bolt from their finger. Rukia Kuchiki and Byakuya Kuchiki both used this spell and rarely other shinigami as well.
11. Bound Lightning (Tsuzuri Raiden) - Electric current flows through any object the user touches and is able to lead electricity, damaging any target that is in contact with the object the current runs through.
20. Shinjukou (Pearl Iridescence)— A technique that creates a wave of white, spectral-tinted reiatsu that occupies a wide area, making it difficult to avoid. Fortunately, it isn’t incredibly powerful.
31. Shot of Red Fire (Shakkahō) — Fires a ball of red energy at a target.
33. Blue Fire, Crash Down (Sōkatsui) — Fires a burst of blue spiritual energy at a target in a similar manner to 31, but over a wider area and with more power.Another version of this spell has been seen in "Bleach : Heat the Soul 5", used by Byakuya, that send a kind of pinkly attack to the opponent, that looks really like his Zanpakutôh, however, we hear Byakuya saying "Soukatsui"(Even if it sound somehow like that "Soukatsuki"))
54. Abolishing Flames (Haien) — Fires a blast of purple spiritual energy that will incinerate a target completely when it makes contact.
58. Orchid Sky (Tenran) - A widening tornado-like blast is fired towards the target.
63. Thunder Roar Cannon (Raikōhō) — Fires a massive wave of yellow energy at a target.
63. Twin Lotus Blue Fire, Crash Down (Sōren Sōkatsui) — Essentially a doubled version of #33, this spell fires two shots of blue fire with greater potency than the single-shot variety.
88. Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon (Hiryugekizokushintenraiho) — Fires a gigantic blast of spiritual energy resulting in an truly enormous explosion.
90. Black Coffin (Kurohitsugi) — Forms a box of black energy around a target, which is then pierced by dozens of energy "spears", lacerating the one inside from head to toe. Its appearance and function is reminiscent of a common magician's trick, as well as certain torture devices used during the Spanish Inquisition.
Hanki Sosai (Reverse Demon): This technique nullifies an opponent's Kidou by hitting it with a Kidou of perfectly opposite speed and energy. The ability can even neutralize an opponent's movements when used correctly.
Plus a number of personally derived and/or otherwise unlisted spells.
