Issues with The Land of Stories I'm back with another criticism essay. This time I'm reviewing the issues with one of my favourite book serieses: The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer. Continuity errors There are a TREMENDOUS amount of inconsistencies between The Land of Stories and A Tale of Magic. Characterizations, backstories, general world lore. Mainly surrounding the characters who appear in both serieses, like the Snow Queen and the Fairy Council. The handling of villains This is something that irritates me to the bone about modern fiction. There are five types of fictional villains: Type 1: A sympathetic villain with a tragic backstory, who's meant for redemption. Type 2: An unapologetically evil villain who's meant for redemption because they're too likeable to keep evil. Type 3: An unapologetically evil villain who's likeable BECAUSE they're evil, and should therefore NEVER be redeemed. Type 4: A hateable villain who doesn't have a tragic backstory, but can be made

A Tale of Magic - Rewrite

A Tale of Magic - Rewrite This is such an amazing book, aside from one thing; the Snow Queen twist. It reminded me of what Discord did in Season 9 of My Little Pony, with the whole Grogar thing. Also, the book ends with the magical community securing their acceptance, meaning Madame Weatherberry's awful, mass-murder-inducing plan worked. Which feels wrong. I think it'd be better if the Snow Queen was a monster created inside Madame Weatherberry by the oppressive system like in the real book, but a monster that she couldn't control, and took her over like Eda and the Owl Beast from The Owl House. And she returned to the Northern Kingdom whenever she felt the Snow Queen bubbling up inside her and needed to get as far away from civilization as possible. But the Snow Queen controlled her and attacked the kingdom, creating the Northern Conflict. And the four witches could be play a role in why. Hazbin Hotel: Season 1 - The Pacing Issue

Hazbin Hotel: Season 1The Pacing Issue Season 1 of Hazbin Hotel was FANTASTIC, and I loved every second of it. But nine episodes was too short a timespan to do everything they needed to do. The characters weren't quite fleshed out enough, and certain arcs weren't given the attention they needed. Too much happened offscreen, and the timeline felt like too many characters and arcs being squished into a space that wasn't big enough for them. I know it's not Vivzie's fault; Amazon forced her to shorten the season when it was supposed to be longer. I don't blame her for it one bit. But I need to get this off my chest. Episodes 1-4 took two weeks. Episodes 6-8 took three days. But episodes 4-6 took four and a half months. That's a pacing issue. Also, I was really hoping to witness more of Angel Dust's progress into redemption onscreen, and Cherrisnake deserved more attention before the dramatic kiss and sacrifice. Marcy's Journal - Problems Marcy's Journal was little more than a dumpster fire, to say the least. This book was hyped by Matt Braly as: "A MUST-own for any fan, jam-packed with hidden stories, missing adventures, character insights, games, puzzles, hidden messages and more lore than you can shake a stick at!" An overselling if I've EVER heard one. It contained, like, one or two bits of juicy essential lore, and one new and exciting adventure. The rest was riddled with problems. The Timeline First of all, its timeline is butchered. Most notably in the four months Marcy spent in Newtopia before reuniting with Anne. Many entries start with "it's been a few days" or "a week", so you can piece together a rough timeline. It's impossible these events took up four months. The time window is far too short, and the canon events are in ALL the wrong places. Like how Marcy's statue is built before she even gets kitted out with her threads, or how Yunan is off searching for Grime when it

Amphibia Season 3 - Problems

Amphibia Season 3 - Problems True Colors. Was a demonstration of GOD'S WORK. Actually, screw that. Nothing God ever created could possibly measure up to how incredible this finale was. The story, the graphics, the action, the lore, the character dynamics, the thrills and revelations, that GUT-RIPPING and TERRIFYING cliffhanger, all of it blew me off my feet, and my GOD if it didn't make me feel things. Hadn't cried that hard since the Hilda episode The Deerfox, and I loved it. After that, my hopes were WAY, WAY up for the thrilling, high-stakes, mega-dark, emotionally intense final season Season 3 was going to be. With the grief of Marcy's death, Anne and the Plantars stranded on Earth, the dangling threat of Andrias's conquest and the thrilling new element of Anne's powers and the prophecy. Issues with Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir Didn't want to write this one until Season 5 was over, in case anything I wrote were changed or painted in a different light by later episodes. Which they were, so I'm extremely glad I didn't. I'm careful not to judge things before I have the whole story. But now Season 5 is complete, this is my criticism essay for Miraculous. The generic early seasons The painfully generic episode formula followed by the early seasons of Miraculous makes the show impossible to enjoy as a whole. Every episode is EXACTLY the same; they just plop a new supervillain into the slot each time. The episodes didn't start getting unique or interesting until sometime in Season 3, and it took me eleven or twelve boredom quits and returns to the show to start properly watching it. Then there's the redundancy of Gabriel's end lines. Using clever wordplay and metaphors for villainous threats is a brilliant trope, but you want to be VERY careful you don't use

The handling of Sasha's redemption arc As someone who REALLY hated Sasha, ADORED her after she redeemed, and cherished Amphibia's powerful messages of personal growth, self-love and true friendship, the flawed execution of Sasha's villain/redemption arc was something that irked me. So here it is! Another one of my criticism essays, where I'll be discussing where the writers went wrong with Sasha's redemption arc. Starting here: "Hey, Anne. Maybe you're better off without me." This is a feeling I've actually been holding in ever since Reunion. Initiating Sasha's redemption arc SECONDS after the culmination of her villain reveal arc was a mistake. It was rushed, unnatural, rendered everything that had just happened pointless, and stumped the possibilities of any future role for Sasha. Things to fix in S2A of The Owl House

Separate Tides through Yesterday's Lie of The Owl House were incredible. And I've sworn off my perfectionism, as that's just a ticket to misery. But there were a few things that were beyond imperfection; things that rubbed me the wrong way. And that's what I write my essays on. So here it is; my very short one on the things I'd fix in Season 2A. Separate Tides Cut Luz's "Do not underestimate me...now eat this, sucka!" line from the opening scene and replace it with something original. That was a one-hit wonder for the premiere, and now it just feels like repetition. Change Eda's line "Because I'm friends with Luz the human" to "Because you're in it" or "Because I've got you". They're way beyond the point of referring to each other as friends. Escaping Expulsion Lilith and Eda were both very out-of-character in the B-plot of this episode. I hate Disney for cancelling The Owl House

I'm PISSED about how The Owl House turned out. Seasons 2B and 3 had some good elements, but there were so many problems and red flags; signs it was all going wrong and wouldn't work out. Signs I convinced myself to ignore out of hope they'd get the show acceptably done despite the cancellation. I tend to do that when I can tell a show is going downhill. Lie to myself out of wishful thinking and convince myself to tolerate the problems in vain hope the rest will turn out OK. I did it with SVTFOE. Then I did it with Amphibia. And finally, I did it with The Owl House. Their finales opened my eyes to how much I'd been convincing myself to ignore, how dissatisfied I'd always been and still am. My name's Lucia!

I'm 21 years old, autistic/V.A.S.T. and aromantic/asexual, which I'm certainly proud to be. I'm into mathematics, biology, singing, drawing comic strips, reading, playing the piano, and most of all, writing stories and watching all my favourite TV shows!

My favourite show is currently Gravity Falls, although The Owl House would have overthrown it if it weren't for the cancellation. I love mystery, adventure, horror, fantasy, humour and shipping, and of course, happy endings. I think it's VERY important that a story ends happily. I'm an absolute sucker for fluff, especially between Dipper and Mabel and their grunkles. There are very few things on earth I love more than Pines cuddles and family fluff, and I can never get enough of that in my stories. I'm also pretty obsessed with Bill Cipher. He is naturally my favourite character. I even have earrings shaped like him, and several self-sloganized t-shirts with him on.

Shipping is one of my favourite parts of being a fan, although I do NOT have ANY interest in abuse-romanticizing shipping or switching characters' sexualities. It's messy and gross, and one of the things I most hate about fandoms is how they mess around with characters and abuse their personalities and roles so much. It's just disgusting. I also don't like genderbends, humanizations, crossovers or timeskips, for pretty much the same reason. And I REALLY hate interactive specials.

Most of all, I just hope people like my fan arts and fanfictions, and will comment on them and enjoy my episodes reviews and whatnot. Please do not post any nasty comments on any of my art or writing, as I just write and draw whatever I want, and I'd rather not receive any judgemental or nasty comments from anyone.
