Despite the name and sharing similar adaptations, the American Cheetah was actually much closely related to pumas than the African Cheetah, and in life was much more of a generalist hunter than a speedster. Nonetheless, it's generally accepted that the American Cheetah pushed the modern Pronghorn Antelope to become the fastest land mammal in North America.
