Janja: Furbrain! You're far better here with us than in the Pridelands~
Kopa: But, my family need to know I'm still alive, after all this time spent so far from them -from home...!
Janja: Haha~ Son, your home is here now! They have forgotten you. It's... the "circle of life", you see: an animal dies, another is born. And the dead one has turned to dust in memories. Now listen closely, kid, and, yes- you'll go far!
[Janja sings; Kopa -puzzled, listens attentively to his mentor]

Featuring The Lion Guard's Janja adressing to cub Kopa.
Many people include their theory about Kopa in The Lion King's universe and I thought "Why not including mine in the world of TLG?". In my AU, Kopa would have been rescued somehow by Janja's pack and instead of killing the cub, Janja would have had the idea to keep and raise him as an enemy to his own family (so as to get rid of Kion and the rest of the royal clan), asserting they had replaced him with Kion & Kiara. At first Kopa would only believe Janja on a theoretical and abstract standpoint so he would be skeptical about Janja's saying but when returning to the Pridelands to get back to his family he would notice how happy the royal family was and would start believing Janja, turning evil. Finally, Kopa would end up fighting with Kion and would eventually get to talk with his parents, and learn they always missed him and hoped for his return, but that life continues (= circle of life) and that they had no time to mourn him openly every day, even though he still lived within their hearts, blah blah blah~
((It's supposed to be comic material but too I'm lazy for that...))
About the making of the pic:
I was supposed to draw it in TLK's style but ended up adding elements from my style. x3
Also when I colored it I went for a Blue/Yellow contrast, as in TLG when Janja sings. I always enjoy the style they use for the hyenas' songs so I used it to inspire my work and stick to the depiction of the character in its original show.
I suppose Janja is as the volcano here, hence the light source coming from below.
(And as I wrote when I published it as a WIP, this drawing was a test at low-angles. I suck at them and needed to practice.)
