The Castle Tower is located in the historical centre of Karlovy Vary above the Castle Colonnade.
The original building, a Gothic castle, originated from the period around the year 1358 and was built
on the order of the Czech king and founder of Karlsbad (Karlovy Vary) Charles IV.
But during the devastating fire in 1604 the castle was burnt down and its revival never happened.
Reconstruction in the Baroque style was enjoyed only by the tower, which was used to welcome
distinguished guests to the spa.
¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨¨
Der Schlossturm steht über der Schlosskolonnade, mitten im historischen Zentrum von Karlsbad.
Der ursprüngliche Bau – eine gotische Burg – stammte aus der Zeit um 1358 und wurde auf Anweisung
des böhmischen Königs und Begründers von Karlsbad, Karls IV. erbaut.
Sie fiel einem verheerenden Brand im Jahre 1604 zum Opfer und wurde später nie wieder erneuert.
Nur dem Burgturm wurde später eine Rekonstruktion im Barockstil zuteil, fortan diente er dazu,
namhafte Kurgäste in der Stadt willkommen zu heißen.
