Bête is a kindhearted man, and though he doesn’t remember much, he continues to live by the principle that he should live to help make other people's lives happier. As such he is gentle and eager to help others if they need it, and is driven in getting his work done. But as a consequence, he might wear himself out or even worse, get stressed over all those that he's grown attached to. He's doting, sometimes a bit too doting, and is quite easy to believe in the goodness of others... Which may lead him to being taken advantage of. This obliviousness is dangerous against those with malintent, but it also makes him quite bulletproof to verbal assault. Though just because he's capable of carrying a strong front doesn't mean he is without his own personal issues. He often keeps his problems to himself, telling himself that he can handle things on his owns. As such, not many really know of the somber side that he keeps tucked out of public view… Old habits die hard, I suppose.


First Dream:

"Ils vécurent heureux jusqu'à la fin de leurs jours."

With a smile on her face, she closes the book, but you're not satisfied. Small hands reach out to tug at her sleeve, and the book in her fingers.

"Encore, maman," you plead, wanting to hear the story again. She only laughs and sets the book aside. As you stick your lower lip out, her hands come around your waist, and you can't help but giggle a little as she lifts you up and kisses you on the forehead.

"Ma petite bête," she laughs again, and smiles that pretty smile you like seeing so much. "Le ciel est très beau aujourd'hui, sortons, nous devons promenons le chien. Alors, on peut en lire encore."

You smile at the thought. That's a good idea! "D'accord maman," In a quick motion, you throw your arms around her, fondly snuggling against her familiar warmth. "Je t'adore."

She returns the motion, and her embrace blankets you in her comforting aroma. Bread, you think. With a hint of flowers. "Je t'adore aussi, mon cher."


History:

In his past life, Bête lived a peaceful life with his family, where he helped run a bakery in the their little hometown. He grew up amongst close friends and family, and became well known for his optimistic and princely nature. Bête was known by all, and admired by many, but seldom kept anyone very close to him.

… Except for one person. Best friends? Lovers? No one was sure what they were, but the two were close, and nearly inseparable. They’d spend their off days together, walking through the park, or enjoying a book together in the library. Surely, they’d be together forever.

Obviously, that wasn’t the case. As the world drew close to its supposed end, Bête was ready to say goodbye to the world that he loved. If he could leave in peace, and depart with the rest, it couldn’t be so bad, right? Fate had other ideas.

And so, he was chosen for the Deep Sleep Project.

His awakening was greeted by darkness, cold sweat, and a head full of haze that he couldn’t seem to shoo away. Regardless, he stepped into the New World, and wandered amongst the trees and fauna. Both afraid and intrigued, the man felt a sense of relief as he spotted a settlement in the distance...

Tid Bits:

• Well, he is kind... Unless he's tired. He can be quite cranky when he's tired and stressed. But he rarely ever lets anyone see him like that and gets apologetic over his own snappiness.
  
• He. Really, really loved his dog. Even knitted tiny sweaters for him. They had matching vests. He also delivered bread with Fraise, without a leash because Fraise is a good doggo that will follow him forever. ;w;
  
• The ribbon he wears in his hair is his mother's. The bowtie he wears around his collar is his father's.
  
• Actually quite the good singer. Might hum or sing if things feel too quiet.
  
• Bilingual. French is his first language, and he knows fluent English. He's more comfortable in his native tongue.
  
• The book is an interpretation of the Beauty and the Beast, of course.
