I have to say, 2023 closed well for me, while 2024 has started off great. The only problem was catching coviid a second time, only to recover from it in 6 days time. What I did differently this time was taking 4 zinc tablets a day once the cold symptoms showed up. Didn't feel any pain, the congestion was weak, and again, less than a week under the weather. Suffice to say, it was worth risking to have my Niece visit for 10 days straight. I also had my first convention trips since San Jose ComicCon 2016. First was Sac Gaming Expo, where I got to meet Lisa Ortiz and hear about her time with 4Kids and her lengthy career in casting and voice acting for the Pokemon anime dub. Then there was SacAnime during Pokemon Go's Rowlet Day event. Not only did I get a selection of Destiny weapon props, but also a recording of John DiMaggio singing the Bacon Pancakes song from Adventure Time. The Helluva Boss panel saw a full seating, and laughs aplenty.

Not much happened this Christmas Day; most of it happened on the days leading up to it. Noticing the gradual shopping increase during my grocery clerk shifts, playing with my baby niece, watching all her presents opened Christmas Eve before she went home with my brother and sister-in-law. What really felt special was watching my dad's mom spend time with my niece. Too few are those who can say they met their great-grandparent/grandchild. The Christmases to come promise to get better, once Leah gets big enough to walk/talk; hopefully, this illness mess will REALLY wind down, and we can do Christmas outings again.
