Samwolf (re-design?)

I was doing some experimenting and trying to get a more something slightly like a model sheet on Samwolf instead of just winging it like I usually do.

I'm lying, I didn't plan this at all.

My werewolf design never really looked right to me. I'm trying to go for a sort of chimp-bear-wolf thing, and trying to avoid giving it a humanoid torso, which is a trend that kind of bugs me. I think I sort of pulled off on the left-most drawing (profiles are easy ).

So it looks alright in terms of being a believable creature but not so much as a distorted monster of bat-shit bloody mayhem, which is what I'm going for. In my opinion I don't think that's a design problem so much as me needing to work on making my drawing more dynamic.
I mean, even the best monster designs look lame if they're posed like a stuffed museum piece under a sun lamp.


When I drew human Sam this time I was just like "f*ck it" so anatomy is pfft.
