Her laugh broke the silence. Margaret Mallory's giggle was a loathsome thing, made even worse by the acoustics of the classroom. Corwin smiled, fiddling with a lock of her curly brown hair.
Sofia ground her teeth, looking away in disgust. She scrawled some more notes, but only ended up breaking the tip of her pencil. As she got up to sharpen it, she glimpsed Corwin nuzzling Margaret's neck. She felt the muscles around her stomach clench in jealousy. It wasn't fair!
