Window Frost

Description

Far to the north, the man looks up from his book.  His gaze travels over the armchair he sits in, and passes the flame of the fire.  As it sweeps over the rest of the cabin, his eyes fix on the window in the corner.  The frost has frozen and melted so often that it's an ever changing pattern of ice crystals.  He smiles at the depths of the winter outside as he turns back to his book.

Wow, these ice crystals look really cool. You did a good job to get this from a fractal. I only played a little bit with Mandelbulb 3D and never figured out how to make patterns and shapes looking only close to what I had in mind. So I just played around and saw what I got. If you created these intricate shapes on purpose, that’s really amazing. But maybe it’s possible with Apophysis, or if you’re a maths’ genus and understand all the formulas ^^On closer inspection, I found circular structures in some of the crystals that remind me of a hairline cross, but these are well hidden.

The cold blue colours are also very nice. They give an icy winter feel to the whole image. I really like the blurred glowing blue bits in the background and the foreground. They add a touch of magic to the wintery atmosphere.

There are some red crystals hidden which are quite hard to see. I don’t really know why there’s red here. The blue alone would be sufficient in my eyes. If you want a second colour here, I suggest you choose one which is easier to spot, maybe gold? I can also imagine this as a winter greeting card. Add some writing in the left area above the diagonal ice structure. It could even be the same as the second colour, okay not dark red, because that’s not easy to see. Maybe both in gold. That would surely make a very nice festive greeting card.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I aslo really liked the short little story about the reading man you wrote to go with this image.
