Description

Hibiscus syriacus is a species of flowering plant in the family Malvaceae, native to India and much of Asia. Common names include Rose of Sharon, Syrian Ketmia, Rose Mallow, St Joseph's Rod, Rosa de Sharon. It is also known as the Korean Rose, being the national flower of South Korea. The flower appears in many national emblems, and Korea is compared poetically to the flower in the South Korean national anthem. The flower's name in Korean is Mugunghwa. The flower's symbolic significance comes from the Korean word mugung, meaning "eternity" or "inexhaustible abundance".
