In my headcanon, I love to think that the cover pink inkling and the pink inkling in the holiday update are sisters. (Same for Green and Lil' Green but they're not here.)

I had that feeling I was not the only one who thought the same thing, resulting to one of my OCs changing completely to that pink inkling girl of the Version 2.0.0 update temporarily. Not the case for the green ones, though.
