Bellerophon's Holiday Party Coats

This has been on my Drawcember list for about two years now. I remember a friend had made a comment that she would have loved to have been able to see the holiday party coat I drew for Bellerophon, since the one drawing where he's wearing it, is from the waist up and he's turned sideways, so yeah, it was not a very good look at his outfit.

So I put that on my list of things to draw, but winter came and went and I had yet to get to it.

So I absolutely wanted to draw it this winter, so here it is. But the thing is, Bellerophon has grown a lot in that past year. Now full of fresh, new found confidence, he special ordered a replica of this coat from the holiday party of the year before, but with brighter, cheerier colors and maybe some festive foot wear. And when you put them side by side, you can see what a difference a tweak in color can make. The shirt underneath even has some sparkle to it. Definitely, this year's holiday party coat has more flair to it than the the previous one.

Another detail that Im sure no one usually considers is that Bellerophon has a high set tail and a thick one, too--it isn't a slim little cat's tail you can just tuck under the clothes; nope, this pony tail requires Bellerophon's coats to be slit halfway down the back so his tail can stick out from the slit instead of being stuffed under the coat and creating this big ol' unsightly hump. I always imagined that most Mobians do need clothes tailored for their tails or wings or what have you.

Im happy to get this one off the list, and it even comes with a little character update: Bellerophon has a last name now. So now he's Bellerophon Equines, But because family has only ever been bad for him and to him him, he has his students call him by his first name, Mr. Bellerophon, with them not realizing that's actually his first name, not his last name. This means Percy, his little brother, also has a last name now. "Equine" means having to do or relating to horses.

Now here's hoping I can get to designing the two middle brothers sometime soon.
