Pest Control

A few days had passed since the two cubs had escaped the wrath of the evil King Simba.  Today, the scruffy brown cub Kovu, found his new friend Kiara holed up deep within the termite-infested caverns which they called home.  He heard Kiara sniffle, and padded closer.

"Kiara?  What's wrong?"  Kovu sat down next to the little princess, and tilted his head to the side, pouting.

Kiara wiped some stray tears from her cheeks.  "Nothing..." she lied.  She felt silly for missing her old home.

"Oh," Kovu looked down at his paws, shifting his weight.  He didn't want to pry, but he knew Kiara needed cheering-up.  Just then, he saw a termite fly up and out of the caverns, toward a beam of light!

"I have an idea!  Come on, follow me," he said to Kiara, and raced out of the den.

Kiara wiped her face one last time before chasing behind Kovu, slightly confused.

After a while, Kovu and Kiara ended up near a crop of colorful mounds of flax.

"Why don't we practice hunting?"  Kovu suggested, excitedly.

"But," Kiara said looking around, "I don't see anything to hunt..."

"Watch this!" Kovu pounced at a mound of flax, and dozens of beetles scattered from the plant.

The young hunter grinned and swiped up at a big red beetle, and the little princess couldn't help but grin with him.
