Anyone else love NWA or "Boyz 'n the 'Hood"? If so, this is for you. Ice Cube is one of my favorite rappers ever. His music inspires a lot of the fiction I create. That's the beauty of hip-hop - it helped suburbanites like me to look at the realities of life in the ghettos of America; that and the fact that it gives people from the 'hood an outlet for their frustration.

From New York underground legendary emcee MF DOOM and Cali producer Madlib
Madlib sounds far from a California producer (since Cali is usually about G-Funk and Hyphy music) but he's actually talented! Tho there are actually 2 types of Cali rap music!
There's the Gangsta Rap (Tupac, NWA, Snoop, IAMSU!, Compton's Most Wanted, MC Ehit, DJ Quik, E-40, etc)
And then there's Experimental Hip Hop! (MadVillain (MF DOOM and Madlib), Madlib, Flying Lotus (the dudes also responsible for most of the music for the Adult Swim bumps), Odd Futue and basically anyone from Madlib's label Stones Throw whom also has a G-Funk producer known as DaM-FunK who has worked with Snoop Dogg for the collab album titled 7 Days Of Funk)
I would also be curious to see more Cali Gangsta rappers collab with Stones Throw producers
