Green Wing Macaw

Made on a blank from Crystumes with the eye area cut out and modded for a more semi-toony look, the beak is party cast in color by Crystumes and partly painted by me (just to even out the color and highlight it)

The skin of the face was a double challenge in that I did not want the viewport mesh to be too obvious, and with the lack of fluffy cheeks getting a pleasant expression is harder. My solution to the mesh was to make all the skin mesh, I used a short fur for the eyelids and jaw edge and finished off the edges of the mesh with 3d fabric paint and hand flocked bits of the white fur, then also using the 3d paint to add some texture since their skin is actually hecka wrinkly. And then the solution to the expression was to make the eyes as large and gentle as I could as well as trying to highlight a smile on the beak a bit.

The feathers are all duck canvas and individually cut, sewn and painted, the wings are a full shirt with front zipper and hidden hand escape slits, the feathers are supported with a baton you hold inside.

The feet are foam and fleece with fabric paint scales and large raptor claws from DVC.
