I hopped on the bandwagon of doing the Yu-Gi-Oh OC outfit memes and this is my result. Also, I used the same pose 'cause I'm lazy like that. Sue me.
This took well over 2 months to complete, and there's probably a lot of wtf-ness going on, but eh. I just wanted to show this.
Anyway, I guess I'll start by describing each outfit she wears throughout the 2nd series anime.
First is Sam's Domino High uniform. Since I not only have see many Yugioh OCs who wear this outfit the "default" way, I also wanted to reflect Sam's tomboy-ish tendencies. So, I went for something different and had her ditch the blue ribbon, wear the pink jacket open, and layer the white button-down with a black tanktop. Fun fact: Sam initially wore a pair of brown boots when I designed her three years ago, but omitted them when I decided to revisit her, so instead she wears the standard school uniform shoes. I think they look much better than the boots because I felt those clashed with the uniform.
Next is Duelist Kingdom, which-like most of the Canon characters outfits that season-is pretty simple; black bomber jacket, matching tanktop (same one in her Domino High look), light blue belt, dark blue jeans, and black sneakers. Not much else to say except this outfit hasn't changed much. Oh, and I didn't include the dueling gauntlet since it wouldn't show very well in the pose I used. *shrug*
The third look is Sam's Battle City outfit, which-may I add-gave me the most trouble. Why? Well, back three years ago, her outfit was vastly different, and other than the fact that I gave her an off-the-shoulder short sleeve top like most OCs I've encountered (not to mention I don't wanna copy Téa), she honestly looked like a try-hard since I gave her way too many accessories. So after a number of revisions, I settled on the above; just a simple turquoise/teal tanktop layered with a black halter, matching cropped jeans and sneakers, a white double belt and socks. I honestly don't think it looks exactly "Yu-Gi-Oh" enough (especially Battle City-esque. Just look at how almost all the characters accessorize!), so I apologize in advance if that is the case.
Moving on, the next oufit is perhaps my favorite and another I had some trouble with. For this one, I was going for an adventurous feel since the Waking the Dragons arc had the main cast travel a great deal throughout that season, so I thought Sam's clothing should reflect that. Here, she wears a white button-down with rolled up sleeves to kinda give a classy yet ready-for-anything type of look. The black vest further emphasizes the classy aspect. She also has a blue denim skirt, black leggings, green studded belt and brown boots. Yeah, I know Yugi has a similar holster/belt, so I tried to make Sam's as different as possible. I really like the way the green compliments the other colors in her outfit. Fun fact: her boots were originally shorter and actually the same ones seen in her Dawn of the Duel look, but I changed them because I thought the longer boots looked better. Also, this outfit is entirely new and not part of my collection from 2013.
The next outfit is another favorite of mine as it looks very Yu-Gi-Oh-ish. With this look, I went for something feminine, formal, yet cool-looking and practical to represent Sam's tomboy-ish nature. To reflect this, she wears a zip-up white turtleneck, black underbust skirt, aqua blue studded belt, and black knee boots. Not only did I want it to be formal since most characters in that arc are spectators and dress as such, but this season marks when Sam is first employed by Kaiba Corp, and so she works at the park during the tournament. Also, I apologize for the rather similar color scheme to Kaiba's trademark/Battle City outfit; it was either purely coincidental or subconscious. Nonetheless, I thought the white shirt looked best. Fun fact: This outfit has been mostly unchanged for the past three years. The only thing I modified were the boots when I added the studs to them.
At the end of the series, I've always wanted Sam to wear shorts and especially sunglasses. This look, as well as the colors, was a bit troublesome to design. Thankfully, I eventually settled on a red cropped vest, black tanktop, light blue shorts, brown belt, and tawny boots. The sunglasses took a few tries for me to match with the colors, but I'm pleased with the finished product. The idea I had for her clothes this season always had the need for something appropriate for the harsh deserts of Egypt, which is why I gave her boots (again). I think they're more suitable than sneakers which could get sand in them easier. Lol. Fun fact: This is another new outfit and I feel I should credit Claire Redfield's outfit from Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles for the inspiration for the color scheme to use.
Finally, we have another favorite outfit and the last of the main ones. Even though I'm not a fan of GX (or the other spin-offs that followed), watching the episodes with the original cast kinda urged me to create a look for it. This was relatively easy to come up with since the original series took place in the late 90s and early 2000s, and GX was ten years after. So, I thought what better than to draw inspiration from the current fashion (at least from what I see around campus), which would be around the same time as GX. As such, Sam has a red plaid shirt, navy tanktop, deep blue jeans, and black combat boots. Also, ever since I saw Alexis' appearance on Arc-V via screenshots, her new look inspired me to give Sam some lipstick/lip gloss/whatever. I think in both cases, the addition of makeup make both characters look mature and very pretty. Since I'm not a fan of dark colors and have seen other OCs use them (I don't wanna be a copycat), I gave my character a rosy pink. She also has shorter hair to further emphasize her older appearance. Fun fact: Not only is this another new outfit, but around this time is when Sam works at the Domino City Aquarium.
Well, that's pretty much it. I may include other miscellaneous outfits in the future. Also, you may have noticed the necklace she always wears, and in case you're wondering, it's nothing special; just a simple piece of jewelry with no significance that she likes to wear. Lol.
I forgot the image I used as reference. Gah.
