henlo long time no upload~~ School's been extremely busy for me lately, so it's been hard to make time for art. Plus as you can tell, this took a long time lmao.

A lot of people have already asked me how I did the background, and truth be told it wasn't hard! Some screen and luminosity layers of turquoise, brown, and yellow did the trick to create the effect you see. As for the ambient lighting, I followed (roughly) a tutorial I found on Tumblr that involved using color dodge in Photoshop. So I basically had to complete all the final stages of this drawing without switching to Sai, which was quite a challenge. I'm reasonably happy with the result though. I'd have liked to add more details but I've honestly put a lot of hours into this as is so I'll take it.

And the character! It's actually older and younger versions of the same person, my OC. I got inspired by the Rakugo opening, which has the older and younger selves of the same person intersecting in a flash of light, but aside from that everything else is my own call.

All in all, it was an interesting experiment with composition and light sources from underneath! Thanks for looking~
