Spyro the Dragon - 25th Anniversary

"Looks like I've got some things to do..."

Today, September 9th, 2023, is the 25th Anniversary of Spyro the Dragon, my all time favorite video game.  To celebrate, here's the dragon himself!  This rendition of Spyro is a blend of his various appearances, taking inspiration from in-game models and CG renders from across the series.  Even though Spyro is a fairly small model, standing only 5 1/2 inches tall, I tried to make him as detailed as possible!  Spyro's looking fired up to charge off on another 25 years of adventures!

This model was also made to celebrate another anniversary.  As of this month, I've been making my felt-covered styrofoam models for ten years.  Longtime watchers of my work may know that I sometimes refer to my models as "Spyrofoam models."  They are so named because, way back in 2013, I started making these models with the goal of making a model of Spyro.  I've since made several models of Spyro over the years.  Now, a decade later, it was satisfying to revisit the little purple dragon once more and really do him justice!
