One of several illustrations I made for "Geheimnisvolle Welt des Mittelalters", a nonfiction childrens' book about the Middle Ages in Europe.

Good and accurate illustration... You make good research... Some of some historical sources point out that they use a lot of brushwood in bundles, sometimes even two carts per stake. They used brushwood in bundles, not thick pieces suitable for crafts as material. After tying the convict, he was covered with brushwood up to his chest... unless the court wanted to torment him any longer.
