Description

@___@ After hrs of looking through my old stuff, I decided to make a crappy improvement diagram. I haven't colored much with my colored pencils, if at all, since I was 12 ^^; and here I am showing my so-called "improvement" (which doesn't look like much >.>)

I got some old prismacolors (12 set for the poor artist) back in early '06 and used them in the left picture. I liked the flow of them but not the skin tone, plus there was no way I'd ever buy more being at the price that they're at even with the 40% off coupon XP

For the 2nd picture, I used Crayolas, the cheap 24 set that's less than $5, I think...and they're at least 6-7 yrs old (I'll take a picture of them because I kind of like the worn look, despite them ruining my right hand T___T, being so short and all). Crayolas don't flow as well, but you can get a lot of colors for cheap, and that's what matters! Plus, they don't break as easily with a cheap sharpener ^^; I think you have to use a special one for Prismacolors...which is more than my 50-set of Crayolas...so I'm definitely not buying even in times of desperation :dead:

As I said before, expensive art supplies are superficial at times @___@ They made my wallet cry...and I think it's still crying because I'm not good enough to color yet >.> I'd rather just use Crayolas until I improve or something x__xllll but even then they wouldn't be worth it for me.

That's just my opinion from my experience with them.

This was made for anyone who felt discouraged because they think Crayolas aren't good enough or that Prismacolor can suddenly give them godly abilities. (They are freaking EXPENSIVE!!! I saw an 11-yr-old boy dragging his mom over to buy them, and I'm like, "What does a little boy know about using professional colored pencils? Buy him some Crayolas or RoseArt and he should be giddy for the next couple of months..." He was going for the 48 set, which costs...well, something I'd never be able to afford for like, 6 months at least XP I was seriously wondering what his mom was thinking...pampering him much?).

Eh, whatever happened to liking shiny metallic colors and new ones that Crayola and RoseArt spout out...? Maybe I'm the only one who pays attention, wandering dept. stores' aisles for childish art supplies... ^^; (Darnit, whatever happened to SpaceMaker boxes?!)

Enough of my ranting, though. I really hope that this made someone's day, at least...? I'm thinking of coloring some unfinished sketches before dying on my chem exam @__@ while waiting for more references...Yay for run-ons. *still hating my college*

I like the '07 one better in terms of the drawing, but not the color. I like the Crayola's color more.
When people use Prismas they tend to press too hard, and that looks bad on the scanner :( I've learned that the hard way...
I think you should try buying a set of Bic Colored Markers and then for skin tone, buy a copic marker or something. I actually use crayola markers for the skin tone because they have a decent peach.
