Laying awake, staring up the ceiling with a million thoughts racing through their head; they weren't necessarily bad thoughts... but they weren't good either.

It was a cool night and a pretty decent day filled with running back and forth doing errands for Director Shinoda and helping the Assistant Director Sawamura with her duties. So it wasn't like they didn't laze around Border doing nothing or fooling around with the trainees. So then why wasn't [Name] sleepy?

Turning their head to the side to look at the clock, they groaned and flipped their pillow over so that it rested over their face. "2:30 am" it had read; that's how long [Name] had been awake for.

As [Name] moaned once more and flipped over on their side, fluffing up their pillow in the process, a groan was heard next to them. Messy, light brown strands of hair appeared from under the warm, fuzzy blankets followed by a sleepy, half-pissed off face. "[Name]~ What are you doing? You're rocking the whole bed! Although, if you really want to rock the bed then I'm sure I can arrange someth-!" A pillow to the face silenced the pervert's words from going any further.

"Shut up, Jin. That's not necessary! Don't forget Yotaro is in the other room!" [Name] hissed, shooting the sleepy elite agent a nasty glare.

Once the sleep had been rubbed out of his eyes, the agent chuckled shooting [Name] that shit-eating grin. "Haha, I know, I know- Hey! Stop hitting me with your pillow!"

Huffing, [Name] grumbled some final curses at the future-seeing agent and cocooned oneself in the blankets.

"Hey, hey! [Name], stop hogging all the blankets!" Jin whined, tugging the warm burrito close to his chest. Burying his nose into their silky [h/c] locks, Jin softly asked, "Hey babe, what's the matter? You seem quite lively for two forty-five in the morning. Something on your mind?" Then he smirked, wiggling a finger between the armor of bed covers tickling his lover's side. "Is it me?"

Biting back a squeal, [Name] rolled over, smacking away Jin's hand. "Stop that! You know how I hate being tickled! And no, it's not you! ...Well, it kinda is," [Name] quickly rethought that, seeing Jin's eyebrow quirk up and the devilish smirk worming its way onto his features again. They quickly added, "And no, I'm not thinking about that! Wipe that grin off your face!"

"Well then, what is it?" Jin asked in a serious tone.

"Y-You know how you can see a vague future of the person you're looking at?" Jin nodded. "W-Well..." [Name] sighed and cuddled into Jin's chest, hiding their reddening face. "How do you deal with it? Seeing the futures of your friends, people you care about... Seeing them get hurt or worse? How can you take it all in stride as if it's nothing?"

Jin breathed in, smiling down softly at [Name] and tucked a stray strand of hair behind their ear. "I don't."

"Eh?!"

Jin chuckled, "I said I don't, [Name]... Or rather, I don't sit back and let what I see for their futures control my thoughts, my emotions, my actions. I do something about them. You know how Director Shinoda or Director Rindo are always saying that I'm "off pulling strings" and whatnot?" [Name] nodded. "Well, I'm pulling strings so that those fatal futures don't come to light. I've already seen enough death with Mr. Mogami and my mother. I have this side-effect that can see other people's futures. Why not use it for good and pull some strings to change them? Right?"

[Name] sighed and mumbled, "Right..."

Seeing that his words had no effect to [Name]'s mood, Jin gently poked [Name]'s cheek and asked, "Yo, is there something else on your mind?"

[Name] lay at Jin's side, carefully choosing their next words so that they didn't burst into tears. "Well... There is something... How do you- No, that's not how I should put it... How do I keep from worrying about the future? There could be a neighbor attack any time and yet you're always so calm. How could I be as calm as you?"

Jin laughed, making [Name] pout and playfully start hitting their significant other. "Hey! Jin! Stop laughing! This is serious!"

"Haha, sorry! Sorry, but- Ack! Hey, stop punching me and let me answer your question, [Nickname]!" The clobbering ceased. "[Full Name], you're already calm! Besides, Border's equipped you with a self-defense trigger and you have the talented elite, Yuichi Jin, looking out for you. So you've really got no reason to worry."

"I know but-!"

Jin placed a finger over [Name]'s mouth and chuckled, "Haha! [Name], ya gotta stop worrying so much! Let the future do its thing and leave the string-pulling to your talented elite! You trust me, don't you?"

[Name] smiled and yawned, "Yeah, I trust you, Jin..."

"Good! Now get some sleep because if you don't, Yotaro's gonna give you a hard time tomorrow. That's what my side effect is telling me, anyway."

[Name] softly chuckled and sighed, sleep finally consuming them. They did trust Jin to take care of whatever needed to be fixed. That's why he had his side effect. He couldn't just ignore it after all, especially once he knew how to properly use it. Everything would be alright in the end.

With that comforting thought in mind, [Name] cuddled against Jin, peacefully falling into a deep slumber. They could finally rest easy, knowing that an elite agent had their back.
