Florin (Update)

A strange alien race found across the galaxy, while little is known of their origin, most people among the stars welcome these intelligent plant base xenotypes with mostly open arms. Florins are one of the stranger species found within stars, being one of three races who anatomy isn’t “standard” their bodies being made of pure plant based materials and acting exactly like them.

Florin are known across the stars for being easy going, calm and helpful xenotype, many adopting a simple lifestyle often living in the wilderness away from major urban areas and keeping to themselves less someone wonder into their lands. Do to their plant base nature, Florin often find work among any void ships and stations as their bodies naturally produces a oxygen mixture that most races are able to breathe, earning them the nickname of “Living Life Support.” Along with fresh air, Florin bodies can naturally produce editable fruits or vegetables from their bodies, while they can’t eat it they often give it away to people or wildlife. Along side the food all florin can produce one of three special compounds from a antiseptic pollen, toxin sap or a syrup like liquid that can be added to food. It is believed the florin developed these traits to help them coexist along side whatever wildlife they found themselves living with.

Florin bodies as strange, while all florin are biologically nonbinary, lacking both male and female reproductive organs, a florin leaving their groves (home area) will often choose to adopt a better standardized xenotype form so they can better blend in among other species, some even choosing to use he/him or she/her pronouns. But like other spieces who physically traits are a mixture of their parents and genetics, Florin trait are mostly based off the local flora they grew from, adopting physical traits from whatever was around them when they were seeded.

Do to their species lacking different sexes. Florin adopted a similar reproduction as normal plants, often shedding off pollen or seeds that will mix with the local flora and would slowly give life to seedling (baby florin) or two or more Florin could work together to create these seedling by sharing pollens and seeds, this style of reproduction often yields a higher rate of offspring. Once a seedling is able to uproot themselves and walk around they will often stay near their groves or another safe areas for about 20-35 years, their bodies implanted with memories and knowledge of their surroundings. Once they are old enough to defend themselves they will often wonder off away from their home grove, traveling to new areas on the planet they live on or traveling off world on a ship, this stage in their life is called the age of wonder. Florin feel naturally compelled to travel and move, they will enjoy this wanderlust for centuries roughly around the time they reach 200 to 300 years of age, their bodies growing bigger and heavier with time as a florin never stop growing. It is around this time one of three things will happen to the florin. 1: they find a spot to take root in once again and will create a grove around themselves, their bodies losing the ability to move or control their limbs. 2: similar to the first one but they work with a grove seeking to travel among the stars and they use the elder Florin’s body is worked into a Grove ship, they aren’t killed during this process, rather they become a living computer and “AI” like system for the ship, allowing them travel even after they lose their limbs. 3: debatable a saddest thing a florin could is to choose to die. Once they take root and have seeded the land around them, the other florins in the grove will humanely kill the elder and burn their body. Do to all the nutrients and materials within a elder Florin body, once killed and burned the ash from their remain is so nutritious for the land and smoke somehow health for the atmosphere their death always heals the land they chose to die on, fixing most problems and giving the next generation of seedlings a better change at life.

Florin also have their own unique style of technology dub “Earthcraft” these “Earthcraft” items function the same as their inorganic counterparts but being made of mostly organic materials like roots, vines, flowers, bark and similar plant base materials. While many assumed these items would be weaker when compared against their inorganic counterparts they would be wrong, while these items and vehicles are more flammable they rarely lose anything, rather these items seem to adopt unique traits depending on what they are. From guns that slowly grow their own munitions, armor shifting to match the local ecosystem and keeping the wearer protected from elements, melee weapons that produce their own toxin and energy fields and much much more.

Sadly with all these wonderful and interesting abilities and traits, the Florin lack a history. No one, not even the Florin themselves know where they came from or how their race came into being, while to many races among the stars this would often drive them to find this mystery out, the Florin seemed content, caring little about the history of their race and only seeking to live among the stars in peace.
