Chapter 1: our suffering began

The mascotverse, my home. I love that place. It really is paradise for all the mascots. It was so simple for mascots to enter. They go serve their time at their games then come back here for retirement. I was always there to watch mascots enter into their new home. I would get so excited to meet them. There was a time I was that new mascot. When I entered with my friends, Beibei, Jingjing, Yingying and Nini, I was very nervous about them not liking me. I was wrong. They all welcomed me with open arms and showed me my new home. As time went on, I got to know some older mascots and welcome new ones. That's how I met my new friends, Vinicius and Miraitowa. Vinicius was very excited to meet me and was a very popular mascot. He was funny, kind and was fun to hang out with. He also brought his friend Tom to hang out with us sometimes. Miraitowa on the other hand was charming and filled with joy. He was also very helpful and charismatic. His sister Someity was a very nice mascot. My old friends got to meet my new ones and all got along great. My home was also very diverse as mascots came from all over the world. And the best part is, we always got to have fun. "Hey Huanhuan, you ready for the party?" Yingying said. "You bet I am." I said in response. Oh boy. That was one of the most awesome parties I've ever attended. We danced and played games and got to socialize. We also celebrated the new mascots, Tina and Milo. They were pretty cool and Milo told everyone that despite being born without a paw, he didn't give up and used his tail to help him walk. It was the greatest. That night, as I went home with my friends, I went to bed happily. I wish this would never end.

Charlie's POW (one of the humans that made a big discovery)

Right about now, me and my friends are on a little mission. It all started when I saw the new mascots go through a part of the woods. Then I wondered, "What if there are more mascots in that forest?" So, I called my friends and told that we're going on a mission: to find out where all the mascots go. "Careful guys. The woods can be dangerous." I said. "Whatever, man. You brought us here, so why not just get to the case?" One of my friends, Eugene said. "Shut up, Eugene. You didn't even want to come because you were too busy with your PeRfEcT IdEa." I said in annoyance. "Hey! It's a good idea that would make me a millionaire! I just need to find something that would make it work." He said. But before I said something else, I heard a humming sound. "Wait, guys. Do you hear that?" I said. "Yeah. I hear it too." One of my other friends said. We then turned to find a portal. I never saw one before. When we peeked inside, we saw a huge city and a sign saying "mascotverse". We couldn't believe it. A whole civilization of mascots was here the whole time and we didn't even know about it. "Dude! This is amazing! Bet this beats your "perfect idea", right Eugene?" I said to him. But he looked like he was talking to someone. "Hey, Eugene?" I said. He hung up the phone. "Hang on. I'm just going to go get something. See you later." He said as he walked out of the city. I had a feeling that he was up to no good, but I decided not question it. Besides, what could he do wrong?

Huanhuan's POV

After I said goodnight to everyone, I head into bed and went to sleep. But then, I heard screaming from a mascot's house. I then saw people dragging said mascots onto moving cages while they were unconscious. I then saw more mascots getting beaten until they were unconscious and then dragged onto the cages. I immediately woken up the others. "Everyone! Wake up!" My friends then entered the kitchen, where I was in. "What's going on? Is there an emergency?" Jingjing said. "You bet there is an emergency!" I said as showed them what was going on outside. "Oh gosh. That means we're next!" Nini said. "Don't worry everyone! Let's just stick together and fight back. We can do this!" I said. But then, the people came in to the house. I prepared my fire powers as they waved their clubs. "Get away! You wouldn't like me or my powers!" I said in determination. But before I used my powers, they hit me with their clubs and wouldn't stop hitting me until I fell to the ground. As my eyes started to close, I saw my friends getting beaten too. I tried to help, but I closed my eyes and fell unconscious.

Ugh. I felt the worst pain in my life. My head hurts so much. My friends started to wake up too and so did other mascots. When we finally got to notice our environment, we realized that we were being kidnapped. We tried screaming for help and breaking through the bars, but it was no use. We then came to a stop. Where were we? We then saw a tent. A circus tent. Were we heading to the circus? Why? We were then dragged inside and strapped into one of those boards in movies where the heroes would nearly be dead in them. As we tried to get out, we saw a young man standing in front of us. "Hello mascots. Welcome to the circus." He said. "What is this? Who are you?" I asked. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Eugene Henderson, owner of the circus. But you should call me Ringmaster." The ringmaster said. "Well, why are we even here?" I asked. "Simple. You guys are loved by the public, or at least, a majority of you. So, I figured I'd bring you here to perform, but as animals." The ringmaster said as he held animal costumes. We all were just shocked. We were going to be animals? But some of us are already animals. What will he do to them? "Don't try to get out of this. This will be your permanent new mask. You won't be able to get it out. Now all I could say now is, have fun." The ringmaster said. We all screamed for help as we struggled to get free, but we felt a powerful hit on our heads. I then felt tired and saw that my friends were tired too. I then shut my eyes and fell asleep again.

As I woke up again, I was a bit more startled. I saw the other mascots waking up. This time, I felt a little bit...weird. I couldn't feel my arms and legs and I felt like I was..floating? Then I saw myself in the mirror, and what I saw left me in shock. I looked like a dragon, a limbless one to be exact. Then I realized, the other mascots looked very different! They were all animals! They all looked shocked as they saw themselves looking different. "Ok, what the heck is going on here?!" I yelled out. The mascots all looked at me like they were going to listen to me now. "Look. I'm just as shocked as all of you, but we can't lose hope! We will get out of here! Right now, we need a plan. Got any for us Waldi?" I said waiting for his response. But he was taking a nap at the moment. Since he looked like an old dog, he must have had his energy taken out. "Waldi? Waldi! WALDI!" I yelled out. Waldi then woke up. "What is it? Are we home? Where are we?" He said half asleep. The mascots groaned in annoyance. "Wow. That's pathetic. At least I don't take naps." Smokey said. "Yeah right, buddy! You're older than I am!" Waldi said. "Not according to your dull colors and white hairs all over you." Said Smokey. "He has a point." Said Schuss. "Shut up, Schuss!" Said Waldi. "Look, I may look old, but that doesn't mean you don't look old too! With your white tips on your face, ears and tail, How could you say that I look the oldest?" Said Waldi. The two then got into a bad fight and barked really loud. Then the ringmaster came in with a gun. "I see some of you already got in a fight. That's some bad animals." He said. Waldi and Smokey looked ashamed. "Alright, we need to set some rules. If I hear a fight, I will load up my gun and shoot in the air. If you keep fighting, I will shoot all of you." The ringmaster said. We were all starting to get nervous. "Now, all of you get some sleep. We will perform tomorrow." The ringmaster said as he turned off the lights. As everyone started to sleep, I then knew that this was our new life now.
