Description

"You can't stop crime. That's what you never understood. I'm controlling it. You wanna rule them by fear. But what do you do with the ones who aren't afraid? I'm doing what you won't, I'm taking them out!"

Now we're really getting started. Lets continue looking the DC Universe Animated Original Movies with Batman: Under the Red Hood.

In Sarajevo, Bosnia, the Joker brutally assaults Jason Todd, the second Robin, in an abandoned warehouse with a crowbar. Jason is locked in the warehouse with a bomb, which explodes and kills him before Batman arrives.
Five years later in Gotham City, a mysterious vigilante called Red Hood assembles a meeting of the city's most prominent drug dealers. He announces a takeover of their drug trade, taking only 40 percent of the profit while offering them protection from both Black Mask and Batman - under punishment of death to anyone caught dealing drugs to children.
Batman stops an attempted theft of a shipment belonging to Black Mask, which is the advanced android Amazo. Batman destroys Amazo with the help of Jason's predecessor Dick Grayson a.k.a. Nightwing and discovers the thieves are working for Red Hood who then kills them. He chases Red Hood to Ace Chemicals, where an explosion destroys the facility.
Batman and Nightwing interrogate the Joker at Arkham Asylum about Red Hood, but he denies involvement.
Black Mask puts a hit on Red Hood for Amazo's destruction. Batman and Nightwing prevent Red Hood from hijacking Black Mask's next weapon shipment.
They chase Red Hood to a train station, where he escapes after detonating a bomb, which injures Nightwing. Batman and Nightwing realize Red Hood is trained and has knowledge of Batman's tactics and gears.
A review of audio footage of the chase reveals Red Hood knows Batman's secret identity.
After surviving an assassination attempt by Red Hood, Black Mask sets the Joker free, tasking him with killing Red Hood. However, Joker instead abducts Black Mask and the drug dealers and plans to set them on fire.
Now Batman has to uncover the mystery of the Red Hood, and stop the Joker before more blood is spilled.

The story is amazingly well written with an intriguing and dramatic plot that's well paced, with a good, balanced amount of action, suspense, and drama.
The Joker provides some dark comedic lines, and they manage to get a chuckle. Some humor, even if it's dark humor, is needed in a story that's relentlessly dramatic and dark if handled right, and this handles it right.
The action scenes are a total thrill to behold, and they can get pretty suspenseful and brutal.
There's some very well handled drama revolving around Batman as he deals with the consequences of Jason's death, and eventually learning the identity of Red Hood.
The animation in this film is possibly the best yet, with greatly designed and animated characters, highly detailed backgrounds, bleak tone, and the thrilling action scenes.
The characters are all amazing and well developed in their own way.
Batman is a great protagonist as he goes through an arc while solving the mystery of the Red Hood, and the guilt he develops and how he must come to terms with his past.
Red Hood is a fascinating villain as he has a very complex motive for his actions: he believes crime can never truly be stopped, it can only be controlled through fear, and those who don't comply will pay the price.
Joker is also a good secondary villain, as he plays a big part in Red Hood's history. And there aren't too many Batman or DC stories where the Joker is a side villain.
As for some of the other characters are pretty decent. Nightwing is a lot of fun, Alfred is just as supportive as ever, Black Mask can be fun just for how hot-headed he can be, and even Ra's al Ghul plays a key part in the mystery.
Christopher Drake delivers an amazingly stunning and gothic score.

The only nitpick i have is that i wish Gordon could have had more screentime, as he's usually a major Batman character. Maybe he could have been helping Batman with the Red Hood mystery.

Overall, this is the best of the animated DC films so far, and definitely one of the best Batman movies ever made. This is an absolute must watch.
