HH: Lucifer and Eve

EDIT 12/24/23: Made edits yet again. Fixed the outlining edge for Lucifer's collar, made his gloves lighter, made his teeth more show accurate, and fixed his body some.

EDIT 9/12/23: Lot of updates. Gave Lucifer more show accurate teeth, fixed his collar where applicable, gave him hopefully more correct colours such as darker gloves and a darker bowtie (at least until the show comes out), and just overall proportion fixes for everybody involved.

Creative title, am I right?

So I made a poll asking whether or not people would be interested in a sketchdump of Lucifer and my interpretation of Eve, and a majority of you all voted "yes," so I made this. I had wanted to anyway, since it's how my OC Cain came to be. 

All of this stuff happens many years before Lucifer meets/falls in love with/marries Lilith. Please keep in mind the following stuff is my own personal interpretation of things and how it is in my fanon.

So, many, many millennia ago, Lucifer had wandered onto the surface, usually disguised as a serpent. At some point, he caught sight of Eve and began to watch her, in awe of her beauty (he hadn't known of Lilith yet at this point in time as I said before). The more he observed her, the more infatuated he became to the point of loving her. Eventually, he makes his move.

While Eve was alone, she noticed a serpent getting close to her. Curious, she observed it for a while before making "conversation" with it. She hears a voice suddenly, and in an instant, sees the golden serpent transform into a handsome man. Lucifer charmingly introduces himself. 

They spend time together and build up a friendship, soon turning into a relationship. Eve and Lucifer were both in love with each other (while she's Adam's wife, I headcanon at this point in time, adultery isn't really recognized, nor recognized as a sin, so it goes under the radar). Lucifer charms her with a good sense of humour, charisma, and often serenades her. A lot of time passes and they are deeply in love.  While Adam was Eve's husband, there was just something...MORE with Lucifer. Much more chemistry. And she loved the fallen angel because of that draw.

Eventually, Lucifer and Eve become physical, the first time "man" has gotten intimate. They are intimate several times before Lucifer offers her the forbidden fruit, convincing her it was no big deal. And as a "test" of trust. I'unno. Some kinda reason, not solely just to disobey God. He leaves to go back to Hell for a while, and Eve goes to Adam (she had kept her affair with Lucifer a secret), and the rest of the story plays out as it does in Genesis. Eve is devastated and feels like a fool, like she was just used as a pawn.

Lucifer comes back a little while later and finds Eve alone outside of Eden, now clothed in a makeshift outfit of leaves. He sees how upset she is and hates seeing her this way. Hates seeing the woman he loves so sad. So, he tries to convince her to run away with him. To forget everything. But Eve is infuriated with him, rejecting his offer. 

Let's just say, her rejection utterly crushes Lucifer. Eve was the first woman he had ever been in love with, and to have her reject him so harshly (as well as blame him/the serpent to God), well...he's devastated for a long time. 

However, Eve was pregnant with Lucifer's son. Eventually, the first human birth happened. Despite him looking a lot like Lucifer, Eve adores Cain and raises him lovingly. Adam knew something was fishy about Cain since he looked nothing like he himself, but he was too nice to let it bother him. 

I figure at some point, Lucifer even stops by to see his firstborn son in secret. Maybe or maybe not talk with Eve about Cain, who knows. But he DOES know about his son early on. Probably comes to Earth incognito to observe Eve while he's still stuck on her, sees her son Cain, and realizes he's his son. Something like that.

So that's my little diddy of these two. Again, this is all my personal take on things. I don't know if Eve or even Cain will make an appearance in the series in the form of a flashback or something, but even if they do, I'm still using my interpretation of them. I've worked too hard on them and have grown too attached to them to just toss them away. But like I keep saying, no matter what happens in canon, I'm still sticking to my fanon no matter what. 

Anyway, yeah, Eve was the first woman Lucifer ever loved. I imagine it's during his devastation, he meets Lilith and they fall in love and yadda yadda. Perhaps a sympathy party of being rejected by their spouses/love interests. Lilith rejected by Adam and God, and Lucifer rejected by Eve. I'unno. Or perhaps Lilith gives him a pep talk, saying he doesn't deserve to be upset, Eve doesn't deserve him, yadda yadda. 

Though while he's madly in love with Lilith now (according to the wiki, he and Lilith are a sickeningly saccharine lovely dovey couple), the dramatic angst lover that I am headcanons that there's still a small flame of desire for Eve burning deep down inside Lucifer. But he loves Lilith more. Eh, I'm rambling. 

It was hard choosing colours for Lucifer. His new redesign wasn't too drastic thankfully (though his hairstyle protruding from his hat makes him look like a discount Stolas ), but the colours were almost all in shades of red. So I had to guess a lot of colours. I eyedropped the "highlights" of some areas, and then I used colours from his pilot/old wiki render for the rest. I also dunno if his eyeshadow is light purplish or the same/similar colour as Charlie's, but I couldn't tell because of how red saturated everything was. Oh well. Let's just say when Lucifer is much younger like he is here, his eyeshadow is grey like Charlie's, but he later changes it to purple, k?

Also, Lucifer isn't wearing his top hat here because 1) his top hat sucks to draw, and 2) since Lucifer is much younger here, he probably doesn't need it yet. I don't know how to explain it. Perhaps he gets his top hat many years later, who knows. Even if this is the dawn of mankind, I didn't feel like giving Lucifer a whole new wardrobe, so he has his usual one. Perhaps being what he is, he can see fashion into the future and adopted this look, I dunno. Another thing, I don't know what redesigned Lucifer's hair completely looks like without his hat, so I just took a guess.

As for instruments, I just gave him a simple lyre. It's easier to draw, and that stuff was common in old times. Maybe not the same degree of fanciness as I drew, but whatever. 

I was surprised to read on the wiki how Lucifer is basically a huge dork and loves polka and rubber ducks. Odd, but amusing.  With that info, I headcanoned that aside from his charisma, Lucifer's goofiness and musical talent also made Eve swoon over him. Charmed her, really.

I really do love my take on Eve, I've grown attached to her. She's kinda "plain," but there's beauty in simplicity. In my fanon, Eve is still alive. I got the idea after talking to a friend on Discord, something he suggested. She's still alive, thanks to the forbidden fruit, and so she spends her days isolated in a cottage and stuff. Kinda like a "good witch" thing going on. But I don't have motivation to add her into my story to the same extent as I did with Vixenia's story. Like I said, no more major comics ever again, good lord. 

As for Adam, well, he and Eve separated millennia ago and he's also an immortal living out his days elsewhere as well.

It's weird drawing Cain as a baby. He's always such a smug bastard, so seeing him as an innocent baby is odd. While adult!Cain has the same cheek marks as Lucifer, I headcanon he doesn't get those until he goes to Hell when Lucifer invites him to come. Part of the atmosphere of the place I suppose. Plus, giving Cain those cheek marks while he's a human with normal complexion was too weird looking, so.

This was a lot of fun to work on. The drawings were all originally sketches done at work, and they came together nicely enough to make me want to illustrate these things.

So yeah, that's my sketchdump for Lucifer and my interpretation of Eve. I love angst and unrequited love and all of that.  

I do like this ship though (but not the real Eve and Lucifer/serpent from Genesis, if that makes sense. Just the Hazbin version of them). I couldn't resist this concept, though, as I find the serpent seed theory (the theory that Cain is actually Lucifer/the serpent/the Devil's son) fascinating. I don't personally believe in it, but it makes for an interesting concept and seems kinda logical when you think about it, so I incorporated it into Hazbin Hotel.

Side note, am I the only one annoyed by how the characters with sharp teeth's redesigns, the teeth don't look like their originals? Instead of multiple pointed teeth, the sharp teeth now just like two gigantic teeth with multiple points instead of individual teeth. If that makes sense. Hopefully that's just a stylistic choice for the redesign posters, and their teeth will go back to normal in the series. Yet another nitpick with the redesigns, I know. :/ 

Listened to Placebo's cover of "Running Up That Hill" a lot while working on it. It's the first version of the song I heard a couple years ago and I love it so much. Don't care for the original version at all, especially since now it's overplayed these past few months like crazy thanks to Netflix. But yeah, the cover put me in the mood for this while colouring it.

Please don't attack me for this interpretation. This is purely for fun and part of my personal fanon. All of this happens before Lucifer gets together with Eve.
