Description
Finished this drawing last night of John Jenkins playing Christmas music on his mandolin. I have drawn him doing this before, but this drawing takes place before he was forced into The British Army. Plus, this time he is drawn in my current style.
Playing the mandolin was always one of the only things he enjoyed in life, helped him get through the hard times of living in the slums of London. Of course, now it helps him get through the hardship of being a soldier.
One day when he was very young, he found it lying in an alleyway, then took it to be his own and learned how to play it.
Anyway, my second Christmas drawing of the season.😁🎄
This one brings two things to mind for me.
One is a beautiful old Currier and Ives postcard or greetings card.
The other is all those wonderful Rankin/Bass holiday specials most of us watched as kids!
Honestly, I can almost hear John Jenkins making like Burl Ives!
And I remember that particular adaptation of Scrooge -- in fact, I just watched it on Tubi !😸
You made John breathe, and he's brought back some happy memories, watching those shows with my dear ol' Granddaddy!🥲
Thanks for sharing this wonderful collective Christmas card😁👍
