Chapter Five
The Rescue
An empty hallway awaits us behind the door. Old, wooden walls stretch up from a faded carpet, and a layer of dust coats everything. Hera gives me a thumbs up, showing that it’s safe to go out. We sneak through the hallway, past locked doors leading into unknown rooms. At the end, we reach a twisting spiral staircase. The sounds of shouting and clashing powers grow louder as we inch towards the stairs. We have to hurry. Before I can think myself out of it, I dart down the stairs, Hera following behind.
We reach the first level. I draw the shadows out from the dark, forgotten corners, and disguise our presence. I can only use the trick on two or less people, so sneaking Dawn out might prove difficult. If we can even find her, that is.
As we slink through the shadows of the first level, I see Miku and Robbin holding off the Rogues. Robbin’s frost powers shoot out around them, creating an icy barrier and blocking them from
