In Miocene Oregon, a MOROPUS, a slothlike relative to modern horses, finds itself threatened by a hungry DAEODON, an omnivorous distant cousin to pigs and hippos that occasionally preys on the local fauna. Based on the real fossil discoveries of the Haystack Assemblage in the John Day Fossil Beds, a geological formation in the state famous for preserving the region's different ecosystems and animal life throughout much of the age of mammals.
