Lots of things... Number one, I guess, is where the light goes and comes from shadows... I feel like there's a sort of cycle - like a cycle of life and death. But no one knows. Everyone just assumes something complicated happens every time you defeat a shadow. Even Carnelian can only guess...
And the shadows themselves. I feel like there's more to their disgusting appearance - a true form. But... I can't be sure of anything...
