Kirk and the landing party are locked in a room on the planet Eminiar VII, unable to contact the ship. Kirk paces anxiously, while Tamura is perched nervously on the armrest of a couch. Mea 3 and an armed guard enter, and Mea says to Kirk, "I have been sent to ask if you require anything." Kirk responds angrily, "We require a great deal. I wish to speak to Anan 7." "He's busy coordinating casualty lists," Mea replies. Kirk fires back, "He'll have more casualty lists than he knows what to do with if he doesn't get in here and talk to me."
