The Normandy was scanning planets to planet to find useful assets, ships, soldiers or volunteers to fight against the Reaper.

In the Asgard system, the Normandy find the Alliance Naval Exploration Flotilla, and war asset on Planet Tyr. They've been rejoin by bunch of fighters squadrons soon after.
