LotR: The Poet Plays No More

Maglor (Also known as Canafinwe or Macalaure). The great minstrel. He and his brother Maedhros were the last of Feanor's sons to attempt to keep the oath of getting the silmarils back that their father had created.

They got hold of them, but the precious stones burned their hands. Maddened with pain Maedhros threw himself into a fiery pit with one stone and Maglor threw the other into the sea, wandering on the beach afterwards like a wraith, unable to find solace. With his hand destroyed he cannot even play.

I have a tender spot in my heart for Maglor, despite all his faults, because he grew sick of the oath of Feanor and the ruthlessness that followed and because he took care of Elrond and Elros and loved them like his own sons

(apparently that doesn't stop me from torturing him though, poor Maglor)
