Description
For the January challenge at
The task was to draw our interpretation of a mythical creature known as peryton, sometimes depicted as a winged deer, or a bird with a deer's head. I realize now that my drawing isn't particularly exciting, it looks pretty much like the picture given for inspiration... That was totally unintentional, I started by sketching several angles and poses in small scale and liked this one the best. I also wanted to kill two birds with one stone; I had this big (A4 size) fantasy deco and came up with no ideas for my entry, until I remembered this challenge. I also wanted to practise ink drawing, shading in particular is something I often struggle with. What you see here is actually a print of my original drawing, I was too attached to the original to use it in my deco entry, especially since it was an old deco (10 years or something) and I have no idea if it will ever find its way to the owner.
Original drawing: Indian ink on Daler-Rowney heavyweight drawing paper.
Scanned & printed on Sennelier calligraphy paper; grey cardstock, BasicGrey scrapbooking paper and black paper for background; rub-on transfer letters.
