Description

Chŏgui
usually you can also spell it like Jeogui / Jeokui.

Chŏgui 적의 are dresses for special royal ladies like the empress, the queen, the crown princess,
meaning 'pheasant-patterned dress'
(翟衣).

They came from Chinese "Song" dynasty queens' grand full-dress uniform.

There were five steps in Chŏgui's changing in Korean Joseon Dynasty.

1. 1370 (last Goryeo) ~ 1403
2. 1403 ~ Japanese Invasion
3. after war ~ 17C
4. 17C~1897
5. 1897~1910. Korean empire (Daehan)
