The story can be read as a stand-alone, even if you're not reading City and the Beast. There's lots of historical setting, mythology, shamanism and plotting. There's room for romance as well, and you get to meet Shaazgai's Master, Ahriman, although briefly. The story takes the readers through Mongolia, Peru, Mesoamerica and also a bit of 16th century Europe. We poured our hearts into it and did tons of research, and we're excited to finally be able to share it! :3
