MCU's worldbuilding rant, also Secret Invasion

As a longtime fan of the MCU there have been some issues I've had with the series that has only gotten worse in years since Endgame. Of course complaining about the MCU isn't unique, and there have been all manner of issues ranging from the dwindling quality, the unfocused phase 4, to the behind-the-scenes stuff like how the writers and actors are sometimes unaware of what is going on in the movie because Disney/Marvel wants absolute control over the script - and of course the over-use of CGI (which given the current state of Hollywood at the time of writing is deserving a whole conversation on itself alone). However the issue I want to focus on is in regards to something that wasn't a concern at first, was forgiven for the time but is becoming more noticed the worse it gets: the worldbuilding. In this rant I want to cover the MCU's worldbuilding: what it got right, where its going wrong, and what to learn from it. Let's start firstly with how it all began - adaptation. PART 1:

DnD Honor among Thieves review - A true DND film

I've actually got some experience with tabletop, namely in the likes of Warhammer 40k, Call of Cthulhu, Cyberpunk, and (as appropriate to this review) Dungeons & Dragons. I don't think I need to go into detail as to what D&D is, seeing as how it's more popular than ever, but for those who are unaware: Dungeons & Dragons is a tabletop RPG where you and a select number of friends play fantasy adventurers of various backgrounds, roles, and races while embarking on various adventures. While there are many notable landmarks and characters, D&D is built to allow any sort of story or world of the dungeon master's design, and they can be as elaborate or as simple as they desire. With that in mind it's no wonder that the idea of a "Dungeons & Dragons movie" is met with mixed feelings. Not only would it be an adaptation of a game, but what can get into the film is wide-ranging. Comedy overdose: Thor Love and Thunder Review

I think I'm now regretting the popularity/success of the "Thor: Ragnorok". It was a fantastic film, using a good amount of comedy to revitalize the Thor character, which for many has been considered the most boring of the MCU heroes. Thor went from a melodramatic warrior that took himself too seriously to a charismatic himbo that was hilariously over-confident while also being quite dumb. Paired up with colorful visuals, a hip song choice, and some crazy shenanigans and you got a film that proved to be a huge success. However with all that came a cost: Thor certainly became a lot dumber, to the point that you have to wonder how he functioned as a capable warrior for the thousands of years he's been alive before coming to Earth. The downplaying of any seriousness/stakes in Thor's story. Additionally Ragnorok showcased the "Marvel Humor" that has often been an issue for some longtime fans (a style of humor that began with Joss Whedon, which focused on awkwardness, characters spouting

I am an illustrator, one who has taken time to learn the history and works of many great artists like Peter Paul Rubens, Albrecht Durer and Rembrandt, as well the modern works of Banksy, and comic artists like Frank Miller. So about October Horror... Unfortunately I can't do the full 31 days. A lot of things are happening this month that I didn't take into account for. I've got moving plans going on, as well as an infection that had given me a lot of trouble over the course of an entire week, and I'm working a lot to get rent made. I will do the final October Horror Halloween film, as well as any others I can fit - but sadly this won't be a full 31 day marathon. Sadly things on my end have been so busy that I don't get to much draw my own things. Life is as it is, and simply have to do the best with what I have. Thank you - much apologies - and I hope that this October is good for all us all.

Re-Opening Commissions. Increased Price (5 slots)

Hello everyone. I know it's been a long while since I've posted anything. The explanation is that I've been focusing more on my main job, as well as working on exercising/weight loss. On an update regarding the latter, I've been making good progress - however in regards to the former, here's the situation. Currently I'm going through a very slow couple months. Typically speaking I'd be working on several job-sites during the summer from April to July, which would leave me busy for 4 work days a week. However things have slowed down considerably, enough so that I have to get back to doing commission work. As well enough that I will have to update the pricing a bit. At the moment I'll be doing character art with an initial $60.00 pricing for black and white works, an an additional $15.00 to add coloring. Finished October Horror, although late. 2021 has certainly kicked my butt - not much work, especially compared to previous years. I hope to do better.
