T.rex vs Triceratops Montana Hell creek formation

Montana 67 million years ago, on a cool morning a mother Triceratops that had spent 6 months tending to her nest forages while her young explore. The young Triceratops are just under 2 months old. Out of the 5 hatchlings, three remain others have been taken by predators.

The female Triceratops weighs 7 tons and is 28ft long more than big enough to scare any predators. The female Triceratops is 7 years old and has had her share of encounters with predators.

The mother Triceratops goes to drink from the small river. As she does so the only animal that stands a chance of taking down a mature Triceratops watches from the forest. An 8ton 38ft long 21 year old Tyrannosaurus slowly moves toward the female Triceratops. It does notice the young and contemplates a much easier target than the full-blown adult and switches targets.

This delay is a mistake, and the female Triceratops becomes uneasy turns her head to see the massive Rex approching and steps in between the baby Triceratops and the T.rex. The T.rex knows to attack now would be suicide and begins a hastly retreat to the forest. As the mother Triceratops pursues the Rex a few more feet before returning to her young.

Thanks to their mother this encounter with a mature T.rex won't be their last. If they are lucky enough, they will grow to be capable of warding off an adult T.rex themselves one day. For now, the mother decides it's time to return to their heard to avoid other potentially dangerous predator encounters.
