No she didn't look Asian in the original game because the graphics were not truly capable of it then. The same reason black people in older games are all very dark skinned and talk like uneducated freaks because there weren't many other ways to distinguish races in the early 90s games. As for the current games Capcom may have worried about poor reception from American buyers, Look at the negative reactions to Square's Final Fantasy Advent Children Design. Many people complained about how "Asian" those characters looked. IMO if you're a racist you probably shouldn't buy Japanese games
